This is one of the reasons that, when I can, when I buy cards for a deck, I like to buy the original printing, providing that I like the art still. I learned a long time ago, thanks to you a bit Rudy, that the older the card, generally the more value it will have a few years if not months down the line. This has proven to be true for my modern decks. Keep up the great work on teaching us monkes how to invest in cardboard, Rudy!

I made a deck that used mostly homelands cards. The win-con was dropping Apocalypse Chime (destroy all Homelands Permanents) and Barren Glory (You win if you have no other cards in play). It was the Homelands land cycle that made it unplayable - you needed about 12 of them in play to cast that 6 mana spell. But, yeah, I have a binder with a whole set of Homelands cards in it... and a set of Weatherlight. Just found out what Null Rods go for.

I have 4000 cards from like 1993-2014. Sold EVERY damn card worth over 5 bucks. Don't regret it, college was expensive. So now I have a hurking pile of cards where I'm pretty sure the most valuable one left is like my Future Sight Akromas Memorial. Had several stores hard pass on buying anything last few times I went in aside from offering me 4 bucks for the akromas so they just sit now. I had about 24 dual lands including a few volcanoes. Selling just those for 45 each at the time (think they were worth 80-85) got me through an entire semester of community college. This was back in 2007. I had limited access to student loans and funding so if it weren't for MTG cards I wouldn't have went to community college for 2 years and gotten an AA.

Oh this hurts. I have a couple thousand revised and similar. Yep, maybe worth a little. Now they are just nostalgia to show my kids. I bought a few boxes of Kamigawa. Maybe $200 in cards. To this day, Castle Sengir from Homelands, is one of my all time favorite art pieces on a land and I HATE that it's so absolutely TERRIBLE! They wasted that beautiful art on such a terrible card! WHYYY?!

Back when Homelands came out, Ihsan's Shade was strong enough to be worth $5. Immunity to white spot removal was everything then. Browse was also a fun one. Team it with the Soldevi Digger to put cards on the bottom of your deck, and then draw the same Incinerate and Arcane Denial over and over forever.

I sold most of my magic cards off years ago but found myself watching all these MTG videos. xD I should find my Zombie Chicken (Poultrygeist) card and frame it though. I know the set was banned from play but I love my Zombie Chicken.. and yes, I know it's worthless. Most of my ACTUAL cards were Planar Chaos, though. The Unglued cards were just keks and stolen cards from my brother (he had thousands, he didn't miss the chicken, I promise... and I think he had like 10 of them anyway but he sold them all several years back... LOADS of Ice Age cards mainly was what he had)... TBH, I just flicked through the tiny stack of remaining cards that were missed when I sold the mass of my lot and I should really just sell off the rest and the beat-up box I keep them in.

Ice age was like 70 cents a booster pack and fallen empires was like 45-55 cents a booster vs $1.50-$3.00 for the nicer packs back in the 90s. I remember as a kid thinking it was better value to buy 9-10 fallen empires boosters with my 5 dollars than buy 1 or 2 from unlimited/revised. I remember buying 2 ice age packs and a ton of fallen empires, getting a Jesters Cap out of one of the packs, then immediately selling it to the store for 15 bucks bucks so I could buy a TON of fallen empires. I was about 8 or 9 lol.

Karn, silver golem, Memory Jar, and Masticore are all reserved list cards and all were reprinted in From the Vault. Not to mention the judge foils and player rewards foil cards that were reserved list… Wheel of Fortune, Thawing Glaciers, Phyrexian Dreadnought, Intuition, Survival of the Fittest, Gaea’s Cradle, another Karn Silver Golem, Morphling, Yawgmoth’s Will, Deranged Hermit, 2 Phyrexian Negators (judge promo and an alternate art foil version from the dual deck Phyrexia vs the coalition), Powder Keg, and Lightning Dragon… but yea other than those, Mox Diamond is the only other foil reserved list reprint lol
