In an era of toughness and physical play, one team in particular stood out. The Knicks were notorious for their style of play which instilled fear in the opponent as soon as they stepped on the court.

There was nothing like NY during playoff time. People watching games in front of store windows...what an experience

I grew up loving the 90’s Knicks and it’s bitter sweet looking back because they were good but just never got over the hump! At least the last 2 decades of futility has made people respect that era!

Phenomenal breakdown + analysis of the 90s Knicks + their most hated rival- the Cry BABY BULLS! If Ernie Grunfeld doesnt fuk up the 92 team + let go M Jackson, G. Wilkins + most importantly, completely botch the X-Man signing, then the 93 Knicks raise the trophy that year! Think about it? Charles Smith never puts on a Knick Uni + the X-Man shuts Pippen down for the 2nd straight year. Also giving the Knicks that bonafide scorer along side Patrick! Probably even go on to win back-to-back in 94 + who knows after that..... Would have changed my life to have seen those 90s Knicks get a much deserved ring! ALL HEART those teams were + their will NEVER be another one to even come close!!

interesting, bc this ends exactly when I became a knick fan in 1994 season at age 7. there were still 7 great years to watch until 01, even though the Ewing/oak/starks ended in 98, was replaced with Houston, lj, campy, Sprewell. 99 was an amazing run.

I think there's more to Jordan stepping down in 93, he was gambling with the wrong people and got himself into so much trouble they killed his father...he didn't take a nap on the side of the road? and somebody just came along and killed him, some random opportunist doesn't end with a body found in a swamp in McColl, South Carolina. his body was in such a bad state of extreme decomposition, Jordan Sr. was not identified until August 13 with the help of dental records provided by the family dentist. that was a hit and a warning...

The 80s Pistons were labelled dirty, but the 90s Knicks were labelled tough and hard-nosed. The only difference was The Pistons beat Jordan and the Bulls. Had the Knicks done the same, they too would be labeled as a dirty team.

Charles Medeoakley was one of the key reasons NY never won a title. Forget about Barkley and Malone, Medeoakley wasn't even as good as Buck Williams, Otis Thorpe or Horace Grant. Put a guy with actual talent at the starting PF position and the 90s Knicks win at least 1 championship.
