It was quite wise - ABC was limited in the news gathering capability, and the main reason was to keep it impartial. Sadly, it is not the case today. ABC became so partial, it's not funny.

A lovely summary, but sloppy journaliam. You mention Margaret Throsby gaining a foothold in 1967 while introducing The Beatles song "Let it Be". The problem is the song wasn't released until 1970. Sloppy journalistic history.

The ABC - like the BBC - started “brave”. In the end, it was only the ABC who stayed that way: WORLD CLASS. I can’t think of a public broadcaster who has done it better. DW “gets it” they just don’t “advicate” no “touchy feely” in Germany.
