Really enjoyed this video. Would love you to see you do something in the same vein say with Pina Colada and adjacent cream of coconut cocktails, say comparing with the Pain Killer, Tradewinds and something like Distinguished Spirit’s Killa Colada.

The Penang Punch is really smooth and cohesive. I subbed Cruzan Single Barrel for the Antigua rum, and I used .25oz passion fruit syrup instead of the puree. I use Kübler Absinthe. The Swiss style is not as high as French absinthe's, but still comes in at 53% ABV.

An epic showdown! You’ll have to come taste Mariano’s version in person when The Mai-Kai reopens to complete the analysis. Maybe Garret will join us. 😅 FYI, the amount of rum in the Zula should be 1.5 oz each in your listed recipe. It’s correct in the video. Okole maluna!

When I hear "cane syrup" it is a dark, deeply flavoured syrup made from boiling down cane juice.

Cane syrup used in this video follows the exact recipe guidelines for that cocktail.

I've made the Penang Afrididi half a dozen times thinking this time I'd get it right but its just soooo dry. It's probably my least favorite donn drink. The Penang Punch is sublime though.

All that I can say is that I have both Chairmans Reserve Original Rum and English Harbour Rum in my cabinet. I want to say this very clearly. They do NOT taste the same, nor are they similar in taste/flavour/experience. Both are solid rums. They are completely dissimilar. That being said, I will now have to try both for the original cocktail!

Wasn’t really trying for an exact 1:1 sub, just using what was available to me and relatively basic rum profile.
