Agreed, chess and boxing are similar in many ways but definitely not the same. The biggest difference is "athleticism." This is why a boxer with only 2 years under his belt can hang with a veteran.

There was this one game I played, and the player was so patient and so smart. I'm thinking it was probably someone on Hikaru's level who decided to make a new account. They were messing around with knights taking off everything and encouraging me out of position. But it was a good game and a valuable lesson because I could go back and study that game to write my own chess theory.

Boxing analogy is silly. Jake Paul is a decent low-level pro. There are chess prodigies who have only been playing for 3-4 years who would be able to hang with Nepo for 20+ moves who are equivalent. Nepo is more like a top 5 pound for pound pro in that it takes a lifetime of training to reach that level (most top level boxers have been training since they were 7 or 8, just like in chess). It's just as easy to say that in chess boxing someone could stall the chess portion and make Nepo survive the boxing, which would be way more complicated than "run around the ring." Please don't conflate boxing as something that's easier to pick up than chess - it's insulting.

What are you talking about 😂 all of the paul brother fights are fixed. If you are going to be a pro fighter, it takes 6+ years of training 2-4 hours a day 5-6 days a week…. Its the same recipe for a great chess player. If you are talking about whats easier, becoming a great chess player of course.. but just like how you can do circles around 900 elos, thats like what a purple belt in bjj can do to people who arent that good.
