My wife just purchased a 2013 Audi Q5 2.0t she got it for $12,000 because the passenger side axle boot was cut along with the passenger side front lower arm ball joint.. I'm in the process of removing and repairing the left side for her..the parts are cheaper than the tools you need to make the repairs..lol I have a 99 7.3 superduty dually 4x4 I have had since new, I have a 1994 jeep wrangler 2.5 liter YJ beater jeep that I absolutely love!! LoL And a crazy Winnebago Lesharo I turned into a 4x4 with 40" tires and made it completely capable of living off grid... I have a tool box for each..and DID not have the tools necessary to tackle her car!! LoL.. But looking at it and now working on it.. it's a sports car/SUV mini tank!! I am getting aquatinted with it and like it..never imagined me going into the computer world as all my vehicles including my boat are "old school" simple.

At 90k it's about time for a water pump/thermostat change. Serpentine belt/tranny svc/coolant svc, maybe wheel bearings, possibly the PCV valve if you notice any oil burn (though it's not usually mechanical with the 3.0). Yep, expensive maintenance, but also VERY reliable if taken care of, and so much fun to drive. I would classify Audi as more of an enthusiast's car, not just a general work horse vehicle. So nice! Love my Q5, but I did a lot of deferred maintenance that was expensive. Is it worth it? For me, yes, it's a passion. But I would never recommend a used Audi! Most people care more about money than their car. 😆

2.0T Audi engines are straight trash. I was advised to buy a 3.0t by a shop that specializes in Audi/VW only. They explained the 3.0ts are pretty stout and have several customers with 120K plus Q5s

Don’t trade in!! I had my 2.0T 2011 Q5 for $165k miles and just recently traded in for a 2016 Q5, but was still running good. Any repairs I had over the years were well worth it compared to buy a new car with more car payments!!
@DrivenCompanion5 жыл бұрын
That's true. Pretty hard to spend enough on maintenance to match a new car payment.
@Cer_Eos5 жыл бұрын
I'm considering buying one with 75k miles. The fear of high miles (though I've heard Audis are very reliable) and expensive maintenance and repairs is giving me cold feet. Mind if I ask how often you have to get it serviced and how much a pricey repair would be?
@sethb22355 жыл бұрын
chris B Oil changes are every 10,000 miles. It’s hard to discuss the expense for repairs as every car is different. However over the life of car I had to replace the engine mounts, the crank case breather and coil’s. At 138k mi the catalytic converter light came on but then went off and on a while so I let it go. I drove the car until 168k, and overall it was great! I don’t believe Audi’s have anymore problems than other cars such as Toyotas, but the repairs and replacements are more expensive since it’s a luxury brand. Obviously it depends how much you drive, but I’d look to get a lower mileage used Q5. Also if you find a good mechanic instead of using the dealership it’ll be cheaper.
@DrivenCompanion5 жыл бұрын
I agree with Seth that Audi's are generally pretty reliable, but the issue is that when things go wrong they are difficult and expensive to fix. To me its worth it to pay a bit more because they are such fine automobiles in every other way

Hi there. I was stuck between buying a 2013 Audi q5 AWD and 2012 Volvo xc60 T6 AWD. Dont know if you know much about volvos but would you say they the xc60 may be a bit more reliable in the long run than the q5? Both vehicles are higher miles around 75k.
@DrivenCompanion4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say. I know there are die-hard loyalists that will say Volvo's are one of the most reliable cars out there but I'm not convinced. I think Audi's have nicer overall build quality and would expect reliability to be about the same.

If the Volvo is built mid to late 2011 than the engine would be bullet proof, if the car is made before May 2011 they have oil consumption issues, same with Audi’s 3.2 and 3.0t, only issue is some water pumps and oil consumption witch isn’t a major issue either, both are a great buy but I would get a 2014 and up t6 r design

Been broken down more than ive driven it. As soon as i replace something crucial to it running something else dies. I just replaced both fuel pumps , now the starter is fried. Before that it leaked oil like it was water replaced air pump and all gaskets on motor 1300.00.. to get to the starter you have to remove the motor mount cant get to the bolts on the motor mount cause starter sylenoid is blocking key access audi didnt have enough common sense to cut an access hole. Replaced two batterys alternator 3 different relays a bunch of fuses windshield washer pump is blown replaced blower motor and relay, water pump, power steering pump, i dont have enough space to wright everything down my 3.2 q5 has been nothing but a nightmare ive put about as much money in parts as i paid for the car thats no joke.
