I remember every episode of My Brother and Me! First Black-led show on Nickelodeon - this show was lowkey groundbreaking for the network. Sadly, the writers & producers couldn't agree on what direction to take the show so it was cancelled after just 1 season. However, it opened the door for more diverse programming on Nick. Some hold up well (Kenan & Kel; Cousin Skeeter; The Brothers Garcia; Taina; Romeo!; True Jackson, VP), while others didn't (I'm looking at you, The Nick Cannon Show, Just Jordan, The Haunted Hathaways, Game Shakers, Young Dylan & That Girl Lay Lay). Thank goodness D*n Schn**d*r had nothing to do with My Brother and Me, which aired long before his shows started to dominate Nickelodeon & RUINED it. If you know, you know 😂

What gets me about this list is that it repeatedly contains some of our favorite actors and actresses who have starred in some of the best 80s and 90s and even 2000s sitcoms ever. It’s interesting, while some couldn’t recapture that magic on new shows, others were able to. Flex and Kelly went on to succeed on One on One, Brandy became successful with Moesha and in her music career, and Larenz Tate literally is considered one of the heartthrobs of the 90s. He’s basically a household name at this point. Ergo, seeing Kadeem and Malcolm from both the Cosby Show and a Different World couldn’t reclaim that success on new sitcoms. I swear, the 90s winning formula was either a good sitcom or a record deal, and it looks like you honestly needed both.

On Our Own basically took the idea from Party of Five. Both premiered in ',94. And the show w Telma Hopkins and Cindy Williams took the idea from Kate&Allie. Two single moms blending their homes. Same exact premise. I forgot about 'Between Brothers' . That show had potential. Kadeem Hardison was my boyfriend in my head.

Most of these shows had so much potential. Some of them, you could see it not really going anywhere but most deserved like 5 seasons minimum.

Out All Night actually had a really good premise and Patti LaBelle’s acting doesnt get the credit it deserves. I had the BIGGGGEST crush on Duane Martin as a kid, between that & Above the Rim
