I watch the show on logo too and skip several episodes Paris, many of the spin off attempts and start getting sad when its nearing the end of 4th season. Diff'rent Strokes and Facts Of Life were two of my favorite tv shows growing up. Kim Fields and Janet Jackson were two of my childhood crushes as well lol. FOL had a great cast and some of the girls that got cut after season 1 had successful acting careers after the fact. My favorite FOL episode is when Tootie ran away to NY and met a teenage prostitute that tried to get her turned out before Ms Garrettt came and saved the day... so many more solid episodes from the series as well.

I think if Dana Plato was a part of Facts of Life rather being the bridge to it, chances are she would be with us today. Plato just needed a levelheaded adult to be her mentor and guide her on the right path. It seems like the ladies on here would've been the positive influence that she needed.

@RyLHatch1989
@RyLHatch1989 8 ай бұрын
Really, Diff'rent Strokes barely used her as it was. They were more focused on the relationships between the two brothers and their budding relationship with their adoptive father. She was only in a handful of episodes per season until the final two seasons where they wrote her off as going to school in Paris, and then she would make sporadic appearances until the series finale, which she wasn't in because it was one of those instances where the show is cancelled without a sendoff finale planned. At least the FoL tied up everyone's storylines despite their finale essentially being another spin-off pilot. Jo moves away with her new husband, recent college graduate Natalie moves to New York City to be a writer, Tootie was starting her final year of college, and Blair buys Eastland and turns it co-ed to save it from closing down permanently while becoming the new headmistress/house mother.
@Supremmo
@Supremmo 8 ай бұрын
@@RyLHatch1989 She was still on a regular which is what I’m saying and she did get some episodes that focused on her, unless you weren’t paying attention. It’s all good. I needed at least one naysayer that was going to throw my comment off course.
@RyLHatch1989
@RyLHatch1989 8 ай бұрын
@@Supremmo I wasn't naysaying anything. I agree with you. Had she moved with Charlotte Rae to the FoL, things might have been different and she could have been given more than what Diff'rent Strokes had to offer her, which wasn't much compared to the other cast members. It is also kinda weird that the one character that bridges the two shows only appeared in the first episode of the spin-off and never shows up again, while the FoL girls appear a couple of times on DS and even Mrs. Garrett went back for a guest spot on DS.

The last episode has the most future stars like Mayim Bialik, Seth Green, and Juliette Lewis. As much as I love the facts of life, the 4 leading ladies disappeared with the exception of Kim Fields who faded into the background after Living Singles, but least she had 2 hit shows. They should have continued with Season 10. One more season would not have killed Mindy Cohn and Nancy Mckeon. Also, Mrs Garrett was supposed to return after 2 years with the Peace Corps so season 10 would of been a perfect ending to this great series.

I watched the show from when it debuted until it went off the air. I was around 11 when it started. I liked it through its run, but I felt like the first season was the best.💁🏻‍♀️

Kudos to Lisa Whelchel for standing her ground and opposing such a gratuitous, pandering episode.

I was the same age as Kimberly Drummond and LOVED Diff’rent Strokes. I was very sad that Mrs. Garrett was leaving the show. I ended up enjoying the first season of The Facts of Life, but I wasn’t so keen about the changes made for the second season. I’d still watch occasionally, but it wasn’t one of those shows I watched religiously. Once they left the school, I stopped watching entirely. Despite being the same age as some characters, I couldn’t relate to anything at all about the show anymore.

My only issue is George Clooney, birthday today, seems to never acknowledges it or makes no reference to it. 😮😢

George Clooney wasn't on the show long enough. Btw they wrote him off the show by having him be a roadie for Stacy Q

This was one of my favorite shows growing up. I remember the episode where Natalie got mugged/raped, but somehow I missed her special date with the ticket scalper from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I love how the trigger words are bleeped even though they are subjects everyone should talk about. It’s pathetic.

I never got the hate that first season gets? Yeah the slimmed down cast was better,but it wasn't by the ridiculous amount people make it out to be. Yeah I mean them walking around in Shorty Shorty Shorts during The Winter in Peekskill,Northern New York and Tootie spending 24 hours a day on skates wasn't good. But the other casts episodes had it's share of storyline plot holes also. A girl's school had this random bedroom away from everyone else with a private bathroom in it for 4 girls caught stealing a car?

The writing during that first season was awful, as was some of the acting (the girl who played Sue Ann was painfully bad).

Juicy Pop has done a great job on videos regarding sitcoms created by Norman Lear. Next, I'd like to see Juicy Pop do more videos on other Norman Lear tv sitcoms All In The Family, Maude, One Day At a Time, and Silver Spoons.
