Thanks for the video and the encouragement. I finished mine today and everything worked and I had no parts left over. Gave me some confidence. Now I might put the motor back together on my 1976 CB750 Honda which has been apart for 7 years.

Appreciate the tear down sequence and tool list/links. Just finished mine on an ‘89. I feel like I have 3K of those 10.8K views 😅. Tip to anyone else looking to do this - be careful with the column pin pullers. Can strip or snap off if not careful. Not fun if you run into that. Also - dimmer switch connection plate (plastic plate that engages the dimmer rod) can be problematic to fit back together. Take notes/pictures when you remove. One of the best videos out there for this.

For everyone that thinks this is too hard to do themselves I would like to say that if you take your time it's really not that bad. It is a bit tedious and sometimes you need a 3rd hand to put some of it back together but it's honestly doable for pretty much anyone. Probably the. Worst part for me was the pivot pins. On the 2nd one it broke the screw off inside the pin requiring me to drill and re tap the pin more than a couple times to finally get the screw out re tapping the pin is not easy as it's made of something like hardened steel or possibly unobtanium lol. Take pictures at every step because you will forget the orientation of some of the pieces and the exact order they go back together. May everything out somewhere safe so you don't lose any small parts and Take your time. You will save some money. Seeing as a mechanic will charge you around $100/hour...yeah screw that . when finished you can hold your head high in triumph and feel as though you may actually be begining to deserve being called a man. Or if you've got plenty of cash laying around take it to a shop hope everything on 8t works when you get it back IF I can do it, chances are you can do it.

Hey the part with the spring inside with the sqare hole you used a screwdriver to take out any other suggestions on a tool for this removal?

Just anything you can use to insert into the hole that will allow you to compress the spring and twist. This video is old. What about a small ratchet with an extension? Thanks for watching!

Got to do this to mine..loose as a goose...and not looking forward to it. Ridiculous that they put those bolts in a spot where you have to take that much cr@p out to get to them...should have at least used Loctite on them from the factory(they obviously did not). The kicker for me, is I have absolutely no use for a tilt steering column anyways..if it had had a non-tilt steering column, I would not have this problem....
