I REALLY Need to practice this! Your swing looks so slow, yet it's so connected and powerful. Of all the KZbin guys (I've been following you all for ages) your swing is the one I'd most like to emulate.

I watched this video when it first came out…….for the last 4 months , I have put in the work on the range to get this exact feeling!! Loosening my grip and using the ground for power has completely changed my game! Really feels good to be throwing beaver tails and spinning the ball back!!!! From the bottom of my heart……I thank you!! 😂😂

I’ve seen and heard from so many sources about how important the ground forces are in a good golf swing, but this is the first time someone actually conveyed it in a way I could understand. Pete’s swing is so sequential and building that he almost looks like he is swinging in slow motion yet he hits the ball as far as anyone.

Thank you Peter, been watching you for many years since I started golf about 6-7 years ago, I found yours and Rick's channel. This the first time I'm commenting cause I was stuck with my swing for a while then saw this video and it just really helped me to slow down a bit on my swing but I still hit the ball a mile cause I was finding the center of the club. Also entered our weekly Thursday stableford competition & I won with 42 points!!! Shot an 83 just had one bad hole the whole round thought I was going to break 80. It was just so unbelievable! So Thank You!!!

Yeah, this is what I been working on the last weeks. It's a weird feeling at first to just let the arms naturally lover while you press into the left foot. Biggest feel is to keep my back at the target for much longer not rushing with rotation or my arms. Feels I have all the time in the world to then rotate and hit the ball. Before I was racing to keep up with my hips or my arms.
@davidt5107 ай бұрын
I have a couple of swing issues and wondered if you could do a video addressing any of them. I tend to sway a lot in my backswing which causes inconsistent ball striking - do you have any drills to sort this? The other is that I have quite a short backswing which is causing my attack angle to be quite shallow (I almost never take divots). I get too inside on my takeaway as well which I think prevents me from having an extended/longer backswing.

Great video Pete. I've found a tension free backswing allows for a slower, more rhythmical swing. This then gets me in the right position to use the ground for more power and consistency. I think relaxing and not having tension in the backswing is sometimes overlooked in golf videos. This single thing has unlocked power and got me into a much better sequence with a lot more consistency.

Thank you for this swing thought Pete! I tried it on the range today and then played my local executive par 3 course. I finished with 6 pars and 3 bogeys. My best score on this course in a while. My ball flight was definitely longer, higher and straighter. Especially on the longer par 3s and a couple par 4s. It definitely felt more effortless with this advice. I’m definitely going to keep practicing this move!!

I tend to get more swing speed with a narrower stance than yours but less control (from balance issues I assume). I’ll go wider and try your tips. I can only feel like I’m getting ground force with what I can only describe is a hitch in my right hip as I start my downswing. Which comes from driving my right foot down to push off.
@PetSKi677 ай бұрын
Sounds good! At top, you load and half-way downswing you push off the ground. The worst piece of information has over the years been: - Keep your head still. That stiffens all the dynamics in a swing. Hence it is all about dynamics.

Hey Pete, love the series and the play. I have one question for you. I have a decent out door setup and I work on these very drills with success. My yardages are almost to where they were 11 years ago with traditional lofts. The issue I have is bring this mat swing to the course. Seems like it goes out the window. I know the mat is always a perfect lie. I’m talking nice flat fairway and I can’t get a consistent strike like I can on the mat.

I've just come back from injury. I'm a strength and conditioning coach and managed to wreck my abs 2 months ago. When I came back to play I was at 1/2 speed at best, hit it straighter and lost about 10 yards per club. My last 2 rounds I'm still straighter but now 10 yards longer per club by just keeping this new swing speed but actioning the whole thing from my feet up. I don't even thing about my arms just try and keep my right wrist in extension and turn from the ground...... Pete, as always, is right.

I tried to do full back swings and worked to improve rotation, hips, feet, timing, etc to maybe emulate the text book swing but after 2 months of inconsistency I tried Jon Rahm's punchy swing and something great happened... Consistency. I just think that my body can't rotate like a text book pro yet as my timing is off but a shorter back swing with a burst of power like Rahm was positive for me.

I've had issues with pulling my shots to the left for a while now. Last range session I took Butch Harman's advice and thought of Freddie Couples dropping the club onto the back of the golf ball. The range session was fantastic, I have never hit the ball so straight with all my clubs before and my next round I stuck a p.b. equalling 82 and went -1 on the 5 par 3s, irons being absolute 🔥 which was pretty stella for a 16HCP 😊 So yeh, this vid is much the same concept so I'd say there's something there 😉

@swingquestgolf, why is everybody talking about creating power, whilst the thing you want to produce is clubhead speed - SPEED? To me the golf swing is about creating speed, and by that I mean, angular velocity, which is a wave of speed multiplied thru your body into the clubhead and finally at the ball speed. Hip turn, shoulder turn, arms swinging like a hammer and clubhead reacting to the circular motion of your whole body. People can turn their pelvis by instinct without a club, and they can swing their arms like a monkey-drum in an instant by instinct. When then put a ball under their nose, everything is whiped out and the initial thought is hitting the ball like a maniac. Sometimes, when struggleing flushing it, I use a different target for impact. I concentrate to hit a leaf of grass right at the front of the ball instead of concentrating to the ball.

Must add to this video peter is that hand speed on the drop adds power as data proves that most of the speed is created right away. Doing the speed combined with what you’re showing will create actual power that “looks smooth”. But there’s definitely effort lol

That would be really hard to do, cause it is a passive dynamic action, which only occurs, when the rythm of motion is correct. Usually people having slower CHS are off with their timing hitting too early. I’d love to see such vid as well.

Concentrate on your timing! You are most probably late in pushing up and back from the ground and arms/shoulders go too early. You should kind of feel, you are so late with your arms and shoulders, that you’ll miss the ball entirely.

Wrong! Press and Drop simultaneously is extremely difficult to regularly achieve through out a game of golf. The lead side scapula pulling about two inches inward towards the spine is the key to a fantastic downswing and the hips and the ground forces will respond automatically. Try it. And you will teach it. Cheers. 🥂😊👍

This might be the case for big people like Finch or John Rahm but for the vast majority most of your power will come from your arms and hands. I've tried this for years and basically if you don't have the power like they do it's a non-starter.

You might be leaving the hands behind. When they get late you feel the need to pull them to catch up. Chest and hands should stay connected. Hands come down, clubhead stays behind. Check out Jason Porzak on this.

Practise the action of skipping a stone. When you skip a stone, you start to rotate your body and your hand will drop so you can skip the stone across the water. If your hands didn't drop and you threw them over the top, the stone would go straight into the water just in front of you.

Thanks Peter. Let me re-gift by posting this: • Farther is used when referring to physical distance. Example: “The ball went farther than before.” • Further is for metaphorical or figurative distance or progress. Example: “We need to discuss this idea further.” So, farther = measurable distance, while further = deeper or more in-depth. This is IN NO WAY meant to shame you. This phenomenon is all over golf KZbin, and I-a Swede living in Switzerland with English as a second language-don't get it. Farther is the natural 'extension' of the word 'far'. Yet EVERYONE insists on saying "further" in golf videos. Go figure. Anyway, kind regards from the language police department... 🫶
