We have a 911 memorial at the Hummels Wharf Pa. We also have a piece of WTC Steel, but also limestone from the Pentagon, and Hallow soil from Shanksville where Flight 93 crashed on 9/11. I'll attempt to share a picture 📸 of the Memorial.

I was a firefighter, I was off duty that morning I wasn't anywhere around that tragic event I was in another state they got a team of us up and we were ready to go but with all the assistance that was pouring in they decided not to send us,343 brothers and sisters gone due to senseless terrorist, every truck we had adorned wreaths and huge American flags we done countless dedications I was in an honor guard all those years,in my lifetime I have never seen firefighters, ems and law enforcement and also Americans come together as we did back then I thought maybe this will somehow bind our country together and let go of all the bickering and badness in our country and it did for awhile so glad you and your children got to go see that

@dannywhelchel4801 I have heard stories about how united the country was afterwards. I wish we could be that united without a massive tragedy

@PACreekWalker i do as well i thought that maybe this country had learned a valuable lesson about sticking together after that but unfortunately it's gonna be faded in time like most other stuff,I can't figure out why everyone can't have love in their heart for everyone,I was raised to be that way, sure we all disagree on things from time to time but some people take simple disagreements and turn it into hatred it's just so sad to me,but as for me I still choose to love everyone.

I was 19 when 9/11 happened (yes I feel old now). I still remember walking into my dad's computer store and huddled with everyone around the TV watching in disbelief. I really like these memorials, will add it to my list if I'm ever in PA. Pretty nice hike trail to boot.

I like your videos. I'm not too far from you ,I think ? I'm in the wv panhandle, seems like the same type of forests and weather. It's a beautiful time of year in this zone. Enjoy nature and wildlife, I get out and walk all the time w my dog. Great trails in this area. Take care and keep up the good work.

I've been hiking the woods in Michigan and Ohio for years, and I've never seen anything like what you found on that tree. 🧐 Curious.

Yes, that’s the Perkiomen at that point. The Hosensack joins the Perk just up stream from the VFW. Mill Hill looks like a good place for walks. The 9/11 memorial is nicely done. My brother lives just up rt 29 from Palm, so I might check this out if I can get down that way again sometime. I enjoyed the video,

I have one of these 9-11 steel memorials near me, at the local county government center. I'm not a fan of it. It's not attractive and I don't think a random piece of scrap steel propped up makes for the best memorial. I wondered if it was just a way for the New Jersey Port Authority to get rid of material. Also when it was put up there was an undercurrent of meaning - to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A couple years ago I was thinking about this and did some searching and found an in depth article. It touches on many different aspects of these memorials. It's on a site called Places Journal and it's titled Relic Steel. It's really good, here is the copy pasted subtitle of the piece: In the aftermath of 9/11, the Port Authority of N.Y. and N.J. catalogued hundreds of pieces of steel debris weighing several tons. Much of it ended up in small municipal memorials in office parks and parking lots and traffic circles around the country.

I became interested in the history of this creek after watching your video. Its name, "Perkiomen Creek," is apparently an anglicization of a Lanape term, "pakihm unk," meaning "cranberry place." Cranberries grow in wetland areas and apparently both Vaccinium oxycoccos (1753) and Vaccinium macrocarpon (1789) are native to Pennsylvania. Do you ever find cranberries during your walks in that area? If you do, would you please video them too?

@alabamatechwriter6959 That is so interesting! I've never found them in this area. Only place I've ever found them is at Ricketts Glen State Park

@@PACreekWalker I know next to nothing about PA history, so it was interesting to find so much about that one creek. I was particularly impressed by all the creek-side trails and parks even along some of its tributaries. If I had to guess, I would say there were at least a combined 20-30 miles of trails with connections to trails along other major creeks. We have very little of that in AL other than in urban areas. I can usually only legally access them at bridges and culverts or use public access through State / Federal parks and lakes. Our only major trail is the nearby southern end of the Appalachian Trail, which is nice but confined. Your trails look like they enable far more open ranging across various types of terrain.

@alabamatechwriter6959 oh yes the Perkiomen Creek is loaded with public land for anyone to use. I appreciate it so much and it's why I spend so much time there

911 was a horrific day and a lot of people suffered tragically. Some very questionable stuff went on that led up to that day. The terrorist that took over the planes and piloted them were trained here to fly the planes. Less than 2 weeks before , if my memory is correct there was an audit report and a congressional hearing that there was accounting errors within the pentagon that showed they had lost around 7 trillion $. It was never talked about again. There was also a need at the time to find reasons to invade Iraq and Iran by the US military. Remember the weapons of mass destruction reason that was never found once there? Anyway, the creek there is nice, if I were a native I would think the same. The next best thing to finding an arrowhead is the locals showing what they have found, but I would look there some more if you get a chance. There is the type named for the Perkiomen, listed in the NE section of Overstreets guide , which is a wide, sometimes asymmetrical , nicely made point from the mid to late archaic 2500-4000 yrs old. Even though its only shown as having a small type site I have a few examples from my area of western NC. This is the same for many types my theory is the Appalachian trail was used extensively for travel in the eastern seaboard and the artifacts could easily have been made by the same persons as examples in the books from both yours and this area are identical and the same materials. Nice trip!
