Great oil choice. My independent uses Motul in my Porsche and I LOVE IT.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nate! It was a toss up between Motul and LiquiMoli. I chose the Motul, because the Porsche Motorsport teams I work with use it in their GT3 Cup Cars...so it must be good! LOL... Car loves it, zero consumption so far after a 1000kms. Thanks for tuning in!

These cars are easy to work on for the most part; I just ordered OE plugs, air/cabin/fuel filters for $100 shipped on rockauto. The oil change you can knock out for $60 if you buy 10qts of Mobil 1 0W40 at Wal-Mart and a MANN filter online. Sure you won't have the dealer service records, but you won't have paid $250 for an oil change, either. Of course you will have to wash your car yourself, too.
@porscheguy096 жыл бұрын
Definitely the easiest oil change I’ve ever seen. I hate changing oil on cars that have the oil filter in a position that’s hard to get to and sideways on the engine that pours oil all over the block and engine bay when you remove it. My old Pontiac was like that and oil would pour down the side of the block and onto the cross member below and make a mess. Had a ton of cleaning to do every time I changed the oil in it. I hated that.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know what you're talking about, that's the worst! Especially once that oil residue starts cooking on the exhaust... The 993 has a similar mess factor with one of the filters. The engine filter area needs a clean on the back side of the engine once you pull it out..bleh...the worst lol.. :) Thanks for tuning in Ryan! Cheers!

That was really nice! Crazy easy compared to the 993 ;) I think Porsche would rather you change the oil. Props to them for not keeping two filter and hidden plugs. Great video! F
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching guys!! :) As much as the 2 filters on the 993 are a PITA - I think filtering the oil from the tank into the engine, and then again from the engine back into the oil tank is pretty cool engineering :)
@ftlaud9116 жыл бұрын
Great video. 997 is a joke compared to 993 for oil changes. FYI - you dont have to start car to check level. Just need to turn key to pos 1. If you fill it 3/4 it will go down once filter gets saturated. Then you know for sure you have enough oil before starting. Then top it off after to make it perfect. Write miles down and watch how much your burning. My 997.1 c2s loved oil. Just thought I would share.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! That's awesome info about the starts and the filter saturation. Thinking back, the first start was a bit stressful as I didn't' want it to starve at all. It worked out though. My 997.2 has zero oil consumption in the 11K Kms I've owned it..isnt' that crazy?! I'm religiously checking the gauge and it's the same. This video is technically my second oil change since taking ownership earlier this year, I had it done at a shop after my big x-country trip. I'll follow your advice on the next one in the spring! Thanks for sharing! :)

are those header pipes flattened on purpose?
@christopherklanica41556 жыл бұрын
Love DIY's . BTW is the exhaust tubing flattened intentionally or has it been touched by a few things over time?
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Christopher. The exhaust is stock and from what I've been told is suppose to be like that. I questioned it right away when I bought the car..either way, I have plans for the exhaust so it doesn't concern me too much in the long run :) Cheers

So Easy - That is Miata easy! No dipstick - that's as whack as no spare tire. I wish someone would come up with an oil filter relocation hack for the small filter on the 993.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Haha, so so so so easy! Yeah, this whole no dipstick trend drives me nuts. I agree, an engine oil filter relocation kit for the 993 would be KEY! I think they make them for older 911s, but AFAIK, those kits sit the filter up-right so when you unscrew it, I imagine oil would pour out and things would get messy. Oh well, the bright side to the labour involved with a 993 is that you can do a nice thorough inspection of the engine with the heat exchanger pipes off... :)
@jonathanl27486 жыл бұрын
Also, how many miles do you go before an oil/filter change with Motul?
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
This was the second oil change with Motul. Zero consumption. I do a change every 5000km (3107miles).
@VassilopoulosT5 жыл бұрын
@@911Percent is there a reason you do it that soon (aggressive driving) or just preventive maintenance?
@chasefisker34976 жыл бұрын
I don't know how low the Carrera sits but there is NO way I could ever get under my 997 TT to change the oil without a jack. I need your lift.
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is totally based on if you can slide your drain pan under lol..I'm sitting on S-PASM springs and could not imagine doing it without some ramps at least... The lift is the best tool I've ever bought for the garage :) You totally need one!! Thanks for tuning in!

Why do your headers have flat spots?
@911Percent6 жыл бұрын
Not sure, they are stock and there is no scrapes or evidence of the pipes being crushed by a foreign object...also my PPI didn't catch this as a problem and the car runs flawlessly... Either way, I have plans for the exhaust, so I am not too concerned about it. Thanks for watching.
