Awesome video--thank you for posting! I'm reluctant to change the oil on my new-to-me 993, but I really want to try it. I think a lift makes the most sense. Why do you have your car on wooden floorboards?

For a fun drive to hone your skill ...the 993 gets my vote, analog, no driver's assist, pure driving. Not for everyone but, my vote is 993.

Realistically, the only debate between them has to be about style, because the 997 is better in every possible way than the 993-power, handling, reliability, comfort, convenience, technology, etc.

I also own a 993. I concur with all your positive comments. My one slight issue is with your comment about being cautious about the rear weight bias more than you would in a newer 911. I drive a 991 GT3 Cup car on track, and have owned 15 or so street 911’s over the years. I’ve gotta say the 993 is as planted in the turns as any modern 911 I’ve owned. Maybe not quite as planted as my 981 Spyder. 😉. My 993 suspension is ROW, BTW.

If you are mounting a rack the first 4 screws that are removed in the video (mounting screws ) are a real pain to remove and all 4 broke / distorted did not come out ! I tried various methods ... high heating a small flat blade screwdriver and melting a slot worked for only one . the other 3 took melting bit by bit out then using a sliced cut bolt (homemade thread chaser ) and heating that several times finally cleared the threads. A tap would not work as the threaded hole bottoms out ). This is on a 2000 C2 . the nylon screw was not going to come out easy. NOTE the thread size is 6mm 1.0 pitch. Hope this helps
