Back in 1889 a regiment was born And her mounted troopers Rode in sunshine and in storm From Betchualaland to the mighty Zambezi Known by many names she was the BSAP Come ye troopers of old Where’re ye may be Drink a century toast to the BSAP And we’ll sing a couple of bars Of the good old kum a kye song To the BSAP and the Regiment lives on ! She has served in war and peace Had glory and has bled A multi sided role in a land where she was bred The guardian of the country she was always there Like the trooper that was moulded on the Morris Depot Square Chorus Old black boots may march on Reservists may grow old And far to many have done their last patrol Last bobby on his beat last airman in the sky Last B girl on the radio the Legend cannot die Chorus At the outposts of the world The regiment lives on In the land of the Silver Fern, Australia and Hong Kong In Britain’s misty Isle beneath American skies In Africa her birthplace the spirit never dies Chorus

Thank you so much for this! I have searched for those lyrics for so long. I never could make out the "Morris Depot Square" part and the "old black boots be our chum" refrain. One crappy version of those lyrics I found had "from Baird to Ireland" instead of "Betchuanaland!" No wonder I couldnt make any sense of that.

@@BlackTalon53 91amp no intention of being a grammar noob, but its spelled ''Bechuanaland'' not with a "T".

GreenLeader I guessed how to spell it and considering I’m dyslexic I think I did not too bad a job scribing this. It’s like me asking someone to spell the names of Scottish places

My father passed away last week, Demetri "taki" Amira. He served 1966 to 1982. I like to imagine him at peace driving his landy through the Bush again. He spoke so much of the BSAP, I know it was his happiest time of his life.

gives me chills every time Hong Kong is mentioned... we miss the commonwealth, i'd rather wave the union jack over the vile 5 star flag of the Chinese communists

The BSAP stood for the Rule Law and their Nation, the corrupt Force that replaced them cannot claim the Battle honours nor the standing in the world stage that the BSAP did. Here’s to the troopers that have done their last patrol. Pro rege, pro patria, pro lege, Latin for "For King, For Country, For Law"

To my late friend Howard. As Smith said in The Great Betrayal, We knew that Labour would stab us in the front, but the Tories stabbed us in the back.
