Born in Rhodesia myself. My dad fought and assisted even to the Congo. Some of you may well remember him and know him. Special Forces. Taught me so much. We had to evacuate in 1971. Lost him two years ago, but my brother followed in his footsteps and carved out a military career for himself. God bless you all!

That’s cool, did your dad have a necklace of human ears?
@tonyross41429 ай бұрын
@randbarrett8706 I think you don't anything about Rhodesia . Infrastructures introduced: railways, roads, medical attention. Foodstuffs the whole time. University class education. Many native Rhodesians fought alongside, with Asian ethnicities to avoid the communist vile racist and psychopaths. They wanted their own communist despotism. Just look into Zimbabwe history. And see what enforced Communist power hungry maniacs have done to innocent, children, men and women. Just have a look. Educate yourself. And, I personally saw some of the communist tactics . And my father saved far more lives than you can comprehend. Black, white and Asian. And as to "collecting" human ears in Rhodesia never happened. Quite the opposite. The so called 'freedom fighters' calling themselves that did appalling things to children. I barely escaped from having my own lips being removed with a 'Panga' Done by the so called Zanu parties. Black, white or Asian. Now, I think that you should investigate history. This nonsense of collecting 'ears' is wrong and slanderous. Please feel free to visit Zimbabwe nowadays!
@tonyross41429 ай бұрын
@randbarrett8706 You are one insensitive b@#tard. Watch the videos. Find a book called contact. If you're a communist, God help you. Rhodesians fought to stop communist depravity, abuse and rape. The Rhodesian forces included Black, White And Eurasians! I have seen brutal warfare because some individuals thought that they deserved fiefdoms . And no my Dad didn't collect ears! He was always valiant, brave and determined for all the indigenous tribes. Have you any idea how terrifying it is for a three year old to see warfare? No. You don't. My Dad's compliment were 4 black anti communists. All they had to eat was corn on the cob porridge. They inquired if I was hungry. I wasn't, but would not have taken part of their daily meal. I really think that you need therapy. Being kind. Look at what is happening in Africa and the Ukraine at the moment!!! Don't even bother calling me racist. You are the blind bigot. I have experienced very scary times within my infancy. I'm no bigot, no racist .common courtesy is usually necessary. Take your hatred and sickening accusations to yourself. Special Forces Never cut of anyone's ears. Me? Aged 3 in Zimbabwe would have had my lips cut off by your Communist friends if I hadn't somehow been assisted. Take your idiot bigotry elsewhere. Study history, not Communist pamphlets. I think that's enough from you. Look at what's occurring in the world today. Don't diatribe, but Learn!!!!!

I am now 74, living in the UK but I lived in Kenya from 1952 - 1968 and South Africa 1968 - 2011. Having lived through the Mau Mau and seen the sheer cruelty there and then to see the Rhodesian war, is was obvious misguided world opinion would win. The subsequent collapse of South Africa cements that argument. Now Africa is a mess from the Cape to Cairo. The epitaph on Smiths' grave should be "I told you so".

Shorts - an iconic look, but they largely ceased this impractical practice by the last years of the war Enemies - the flagging and understrength Rhodesian Security Forces were never able to keep them north of the Zambezi, east of the Eastern Highlands, or south of the Limpopo. By the end of the war, the "floppies" were the strongest they'd ever been, the security forces were in a ragged state, most whites were planning to leave because they'd lost their cushy way of life and were sick of constantly being on call-up and driving on landmines and shit. Well it fuckin did and good riddance. The native African population (which was over 90% of the country's population) was largely kept from voting due to segregational voting laws, interracial relationships were outlawed through the Immorality Suppression Ordinance, and the Land Tenure and Land Apportionment acts barred native Africans from settling in towns with white Rhodesians or having farms in arable regions. Rhodesia was an apartheid state that oppressed the majority of people living there (who also didn't choose to have white people ruling over them) and I'm glad the Zimbabweans overthrew the gov't, even if Mugabe was a fuck

Germans almost had no forces on their western border (which was proved when French army finally started to move in, but then stopped after cople of km). Combined forces of UK and France could easily take over half of Germany (French forces on French-German border outnumbered Germans 5 to 1 alone, now add UK to that) as most of the German forces were occupied fighting Polish army. As a Canadian I think the western world is crumbling especially the Anglo one. I feel we are taught now that everything our ancestors did was wrong. Even though it was Christianity with British institutions and responsible government that made our nations the most prosperous and free in the world. That doesn't mean people didn't struggle or it was a utopia. But what is the alternative? In Africa many nations just squabble and have infighting and one regime replaces the other. There is no investment into the people only the ruling regime of the day takes the money. These nations have vast mineral/oil resources and farmland. They have an abundant population and warm climate. But they are the poorest. I listen to them still blame the white man for all of their problems. Much like native people in Canada. Our government gives them more money per person than any group. They have reserve lands they can live on without paying taxes. Then they still cry for more. No one has given me land to live on. If they did I would develop it into something prosperous. But now our nation is more focused on diversity training, trans gender and homosexuality, and running our finances into the ground and adopting every communist manifesto.

For people like me, who really likes caraoke Here's the story of Rhodesia, A land both fair and great. On 11th of November An independent state. This was much against the wishes Of certain governments, Whose leaders tried to break us down, To make us all repent. But we're all Rhodesians And we'll fight through thick and thin. We'll keep our land a free land, Stop the enemy coming in. We'll keep them north of the Zambezi 'Til that river's running dry. This mighty land will prosper For Rhodesians never die. They can send their men to murder And they can shout their words of hate. But the cost of keeping this land free Can never be too great. For our men and boys are fighting For the things that they hold dear. That this land and all its people Will never disappear. Cos we're all Rhodesians And we'll fight through thick and thin. We'll keep our land a free land, Stop the enemy coming in. We'll keep them north of the Zambezi 'Til that river's running dry. This mighty land will prosper For Rhodesians never die. We'll preserve this little nation, For our children's children too. For once you're a Rhodesian, No other land will do We will stand tall in the sunshine, With the truth upon our side. And if we have to go alone, We'll go alone with pride. But we're all Rhodesians And we'll fight through thick and thin. We'll keep our land a free land, Stop the enemy coming in. We'll keep them north of the Zambezi 'Til that river's running dry. This mighty land will prosper For Rhodesians never die. Yes we're all Rhodesians And we'll fight through thick and thin. We'll keep our land a free land, Stop the enemy coming in. We'll keep them north of the Zambezi 'Til that river's running dry. This mighty land will prosper For Rhodesians never die. Funnily enough I miss the insects, the chongololos (millipedes as long and as thick as your finger) just moving along all over the place; the wall spiders (absolutely flat against the wall); the sound of a certain dove, the little 'helicopters' flying a couple of inches above the ground in front of you as you walked along; the large beetles that would crash onto your veranda when you are sitting there in the dark evening having a bottle of Castle or a Pilsner. I am a German from Germany.... and we were told absolutely NOTHING about Rhodesia in school when I was young. It’s an absolute shame. The Selous Scouts are my absolute Heroes. If we had those in Germany today.... we would be much better on....

You had quite a number of Germans living in RSR. Most of them were "Called up" for limited Service in the RhSF (42 Days). Regulars were only a handful. The OC of E Sqd RhACR (T34 and T55) was German, a former Panzerhauptmann from Wetzlar. My OC was German, the 2iC also and I a PlatoonSGT and 107 Africans

There's something distinctly American about Rhodesia. A rebel nation in a primitive but promising land.

Oppression?? Rhodesia wasn't perfect by any stretch. I was born there and fought against the marxists guerrillas that I felt, and a lot of others felt would destroy the country and it's infrastructure. We were proved correct. But the vast majority of the black populace had free education, running water, a healthcare system based on the UK's NHS that provided top line healthcare not just for us whitey's but for the blacks too. It was far in advance of many others nations healthcare incl the USA. That is what I held dear and also the people who lived in the country, I knew Mugabe would oppress both blacks and whites. Also bear in mind that 80% of our armed forces were black Ndebele, Shona and Shangaan. They were volunteers because they saw first hand the atrocities being carried out by ZANLA and ZIPRA terrs. Over 95% of black civilian deaths in the bush war were inflicted by Mugabe's and Nkomo's terrs. Lost count the amount of times we were scrambled on Fire missions to attend a massacre of black and white civvies when their bus had travelled over a mine. In 1979 Rhodesia had a black Prime Minister in Abel Muzorewa, that was the change that was needed. But Mugabe and Nkomo wanted the power for themselves, not power sharing but absolutism, and Mugabe got it in the end. I daresay if sanctions had been lifted the outcome would've been vastly different, no Mugabe in power, but Rhodesia would've changed it's name to Zimbabwe.

Yeah man, the NHS is so good that they only give out a certain number of treatments per year and, according to it's own auditors, is doomed to fail.
@anorthernsoul56007 жыл бұрын
They said that over 60 years ago at it's inception.... weird huh!! I had a BAC tumour removed in 2014 on the NHS, from consultation to proceedure it took 2 months. In supposed superior countries like the USA that would require health insurance of the highest premiums. Not a requirement in the UK where I now reside.

Rhodesian security forces did a great job....until the Portuguese cut and ran. This opened Mozambique as a safe haven for the Marxist. No nation could have survived this along with the economic sanctions that idiots in the West heaped on them. Rhodesia fought against terrible odds and did it with honor.

Well we were already in conflict with those places, and I don't think offering a little help to our friends in Africa, at least in the form of some weapons or intelligence would have been the last straw to make Russia bomb us. Also, history has proven the "racist shitheads" right. Zimbabwe is a disaster and so much productive farmland nowadays under Mugabe can't even feed the country itself!
