With some help from my friend we were able to figure out the overheating issue!!! It is amazing on how this was the issue on the Eldorado!!! We were ready to do a leak down test! This just shows to continue to test everything and problem solve as much as possible!

It's a ton of other videos on this issue it's called a Purge Line/Hose Bolt it has a small hole going thru it & it gets clogged easily but it could be other lines/hoses that could be clogged up also search on you-tube for more videos I have watched a bunch of videos I have a 2001 Cadillac Seville S-T-S 4.6L North-Star engine 117,178 miles on it it ran hot on me in 2022 Summer time my Radiator Fans aren't coming on it has been parked every since, I plan on getting it fixed 2024 so I been researching on You-tube! My Caddy has 3 Relays for the fans it's they are located underneath the radiator. I plan on changing Overflow Reservoir ,Radiator, Thermostat, Water-pump upper & lower radiator hoses and unclog Purge lines/hoses & purge line bolt & hopefully I can enjoy da LAC! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

Hello there wasn't a video showing how to fix the clogged area you were describing, I want to ask what was use to unclogged the line? I have the same issue, the engine doesn't overheat, I have to always add coolant all the time and checking it, what do you suggest?

I have a question for ya! Do you have to pinch off a hose or is this a fairly clean job where you won't lose coolant taking out this hollow bolt?

hollow bolt, very common on the northstar... dex-cool gels up over time

Why didn't you show us how you got it unclogged. I got the same problem so at the very end you point and say " I can't explain it, but it's this nut and bolt that runs all the way thru??WTF. A close up would've helped also

I had the same issue. Found a leak from the bottom of the coolant reservoir. The plastic had become brittle.

Any advice on a 2000 eldorado overheating and steam coming from the coolant reservoir? I changed radiator,water pump, and fan heads and block look good

Did you check the hose thats in this video??? Changed the thermostat?

The bolts pull out from the block and then they overheat. Another saved! Check that purge line Northstar Cadillac owners😊 BTW, don't use those tablets in the cooling system, it's what blocks that line. GM doesn't recommend those anymore . Coolant level should be at around half full when cold.

@@KNaaman GM use to put barrs stop leak tablets in the cooling system at the factory for nuisance external coolant weeps.

I don’t know what’s wrong with mine Mechanic changed the ignition coil he drove it up the street and back it was fine he said he let it sit then started back seen smoke then coolant shot out

Over heating was a HUGE problem with those damn NorthStars! And God forbid that your head blows because not only will you be replacing the seals, but more than likely the starter as well since they decided to put it INSIDE the engine. 😂 That's why I made sure when I got my 93 Eldorado that it had the 4.9. Damn near 300,000 miles on it and no issues
