Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to put this video together Darren… it will really help me as I try my first Sheleeart Blooms! I’ve only been Acrylic Pouring for about 4 months and, to date, have only done Dutch Pours and a couple of standard swipes (Beach Swipes)… with lots and lots of failures! 😝 I finally have all the ingredients to do a Shelee Bloom, I just have to pluck up the courage to actually give it a go! There are hundreds of videos out there on how to mix your paints and how to execute the Shelleeart Bloom, but 99% of them are from US or Canadian artists, so they are of little help to us Aussies! 🇦🇺 And, I just wanted to say that I was gobsmacked by the difference between adding the PM slowly, versus all at once… absolutely crazy!! 😲 So, thanks again for being so thorough and, not only telling us how to, and why you do certain things… but showing us the differences! You are an incredible teacher and I look forward to learning more from you. One day soon, I hope to have my own channel, so I can pass on what I’ve learned from all the KZbin artists and, give back, so to speak. What holds me back is the fear of failure and the negative comments that go with those failures!! 😱 Love your videos. ♥️♥️🇦🇺

Thank you so much for the lovely comments, I find it's far better to show what I do and why I did it that way just so you can actually see the results. Never fear a failure, we all have them... just you never get to see them. You will have some people that just don't like your work or others that may leave some nasty comments but that's ok, it really does help us create better quality videos for others to enjoy. Feel free to join my group on Facebook ( paint pouring by venom fluid art ) it's a private group where artists can share their work without the fear of derogatory comments, we can give tips and tricks to help you on your fluid art journey & best of all its free. Thank you so much for watching my videos and I'm glad I could help 🥰💜

Thx for sharing Venom. The problem is that untinted paint is not available in Holland, unfortunately there is no market for it. No Behr's and Taubmans or anything like that. Lacquers and stains are all liquid. An alternative is to thicken with firm gel and PVA 70/30. I have all types of Liquitex and Golden PM and it works very well and water remains my great friend.

Hi there, thank you very much for your video about mixing mica interference pigments. I love how vibrant and bright your paintings are. It was great to see the difference between adding and mixing slowly to keep the colour vibrant. I do, however, have a couple questions if that is okay... I am wondering if you could help me please. As yet, I haven't delved into fluid art as I come from a traditional painting background. I have a painting idea I am really interested in exploring. You used Shelley's recommended untinted paint, which I have purchased. So this is my question, I am using the Pearl-Ex and want to make the paint colours to be as a hint of colour with lots of shimmer. Going by your demonstration adding the paint to the pigment in small batches it will keep its richness.. is that regardless of how much of the paint you add? You also said you often added double the amount of pigment... In a long winded way, I guess what I am really asking can the house paint be used to glaze. Phew, got there in the end. 😁 thank you so much for your time.

Hi I am a total beginner to paint pouring although I did a bit 8 years ago I never got round to it properly. Anyways I have recently got interested again and blimey things have really progressed. I found your channel and really appreciate what you're doing and I am loving your videos. I have lots of pearl ex which would be great to use in pouring. Trouble is I'm in the UK and I don't know what paint I can use. You have mention satin emulsion for a cushion which is fine, even I can do that, but I cannot work out what paint this is. Is it a waterbased wood paint? Thanks Ellen

map51 Venom, I would like to ask you something to see if you can solve it for me, I prepare my pouring medium with 2 parts untinted TR base paint, one part of paint or pigment, and I add polyurethane varnish until it reaches the consistency of liquid honey. The problem is that the next day it has thickened again so that it hardly comes off the stick, and I add varnish again until I get the consistency, and so on every day, is this normal? Thank you for your attention, I hope not to disturb..

Hey Darren is your measurement that you use to scoop out easy coat 80ml or 60ml measurement? You say 80mls but it looks like a 1/4 of a cup measurement? I’m trying to get exact to get cells as I keep failing ?

Just checking this video again Darren as I have made a silly mistake when mixing pigments. Instead of using neutral I accidentally used a white and now the 6 colours I made are muted! 🙃 Any idea how I can make them bling or do I now have to use them as 'pastel tube paint' colours.?? So annoyed with myself as the TLPs are so expensive.
@venomfluidart Жыл бұрын
Ohhhhh nooooo fay, unfortunately you can't fix it. Any titanium white will make the colours pastel.

Hi Darren!!! That was a great video!!! When you said that you like your paints extra thick with a 1 second trace, mine are even thicker!! I leave a 3 to 4 second trace or I feel like my cells get wonky. But I use Behr 8300 because I’m in Canada. Have you ever gone thicker? And also do you use the same measurements when you mix fluid paints? Thank you 😊😊😊😊
@venomfluidart2 жыл бұрын
If your pillow is a little thin the cells will get wonky, I did a pour today with a 5 second trace and it turned out great 👍
@lisapryor87672 жыл бұрын
I’m finding that as well, I love my thick paints but my pillow needs to be a bit thicker and I also stretch out my pillow on my canvas. That helps too, not sure if that’s right but it’s working for me 😊 Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!

Thankyou darren great work at explaining the way you mix your colours can I ask where you get your paint pots and does your measuring cup have 80 ml and 20 ml on them and can you tell me how long does the paint last in pots will it last a week ect thanks in advance
@venomfluidart2 жыл бұрын
I just get them at a dollar store, there are no measurements on the tubs but I just weigh it if I need to be accurate. I used some paint today that was 3 months old and was a little thick, I just added some josh gloss varnish and a drop of water and they were fine 👍

thanks for this video! one question: here in Italy, where I live, I can't find the ingredients you use, I already have Josonia at home but I'd like to know the difference between this and what you use as a medium, because I have no idea what I should ask the shopkeeper
@venomfluidart Жыл бұрын
The josonja is just a varnish, ask for untinted paint that this no titanium white in it, that's what you will use as the pouring medium 😉
@rbeaddesigns2 жыл бұрын
Great video! I will definitely take your advice on the gradual mixing of the PM. I’m not sure I totally agree with needing an N95 mask. I noticed you tap your stir stick before you mix to get off any excess pigment. That is when you would cause most of the dust. I never do that. I usually will immediately wipe my stick with a baby wipe making sure the stick is covered by the baby wipe. Anyway, just thought I’d share. I do always hold the pigments well away from my face when I pour or mix. I’m following you now and really looking forward to seeing more videos! 😀
@venomfluidart2 жыл бұрын
The problem with fine pigments is you can’t see them in the air in certain light conditions. Trust me, no mater how carful you are it still gets into the air. My chest x-ray looks like a Xmas tree because I dropped a tub and still had a surgical mask on at the time. But it’s just my recommendation to use an n95 or better. I’m glad you enjoyed the video Roberta 👍❤️🥰

Hi Darren, Chrissy from Townsville, I have been to Bunnings and Taubmans here in Townsville, to get Taubmans Door and Trim neutral base, but they don’t have any and they said they cannot order it in, I got Taubmans water base enamel neutral gloss interior & exterior, also got Taubmans Sun proof exterior gloss neutral. Will one of these be any good to use instead of Door and trim, thanks for your help. Chrissy
@venomfluidart Жыл бұрын
The original door and trim was discontinued a few months ago, the water based enamel works better in a semi-gloss, I'd exchange it as the gloss tends to warp cells 👍🐨

How do you measure units of volume on a device (scale) that measure units of weight? You are adding in increments of mls which (I think) would require knowing how much each different fluid weighs. How do you calculate how much each ml of each different fluid weighs in order to convert it into units of weigh so you can measure using a scale? I’m thinking this would be very tedious. Nice video.
