These with the pioneer were a favourite model of mine. I had many of them back in the day when they were still issued and would try to get all the different years! There was always ones you could never find but that's always the way! To find one new old stock in the box is hard these days and selling way above their value? There was a Uk seller on Etsy selling some new in the box from 80s to 90s dates and he was asking £100 each but even that is way lower than some swiss sellers are asking for shagged out models! I wish i had kept all mine. Strangely the red old cross pioneer's fetch even more, if you can find them? Almost impossible in the UK where i am.

when are you going to review a Stay Glow- Climber ? They have now been officially retired after almost 20 years of service along with the Classic SD in Stay Glow. It's a shame and I always hoped they would make a Compact in Stay Glow or at least offer the plus tool scales in Stay Glow. I like the slightly textured nylon scales of the Stay Glow models.

Nice find. Alox models have such a satisfying snap to them when opening and closing the blades. I guess the thicker blades probably sound even better in person. A kind of ASMR for SAK collectors lol :-)

What a beauty. I started carrying a compact a couple years ago and it is my daily, unless I have a lot of heavy work to do.

Great find, Dan. I enjoy watching your videos but something I'd like to see is how to properly maintain a sak, how to clean and oil it. I know these things will go forever with just a bit of love

Beautiful for a collection but the old model Soldiers nowadays fetch prices upwards of £100 (in the UK) irrespective of the year so even if I found one brand new for free I wouldn't want to carry and use it. Thankfully there are enough other 93mm alox models out now to be able to buy some good knives for everyday use. I like having a saw even just as contingency and it only adds about 2mm thickness so I have the Farmer and Farmer X.

I also bought one new from 93 from eBay. They appear now and then. Maybe they produced too much 😂

Hey Dan, new subscriber. Love your vids. Care to go into why you mostly have red knives? Is it a visibility thing, or more of an availability thing? You ever use lanyards? Thanks much.

Does anybody know, if there was an era, where they made a better quality steel (or heat treat) for either their blades only or not? Also! Is there an era, that is known that they where the best quality overall on their Swiss Army knives? Thanks in advance

From what I understand, these older models have thicker tools so I guess they're slightly more durable

I had that year model back when, til it was stolen. I picked up a 97 Wenger as a consolation prize, and I found my birth year, a 71 Vic, a few years ago.
