The Sportsman pairs great with a 58mm model with a pen, Phillips and scissors (Manager, etc.). I actually prefer that combo to a Compact, and it only weighs 10g more.

My five favorite SAKs for now are the Evolution 11, Super Tinker, Handyman, Explorer, and the Compact. I edc the Evo 11 and have a classic sd on the keychain.

I have an old "fisherman" with a different shaped can opener. It is more angled in shape, and the sharp edge is on the outer leading edge. Looking for replacement covers and lanyard ring.

My favorite one is the delemont it's a lot like that last one with the Philips screwdriver instead of a wine cork opener but it also has the bottle opener with a flat head

I have a few Swiss army knife's and, for me the phillip's screwdriver on the front side of the knife is a must as an everyday carry knife. For hiking and camping not so much.

Thanks Dan, just curious to ask your opinion on dating a knife with 11 tools, “VICTORIA OFFICER SUISSE” one one side tang with crossbow through Victoria, “VICTORINOX SWITZERLAND STAINLESS ROSTFREI” on the other side of the tang, no hole in the reamer tool, 5 turns on the cork screw which has a black groove, centimetres one one side of the fish scaler tool and inches on the other side, steel spring scissors tool. No other markings on any of the blades/tools, no visible rivets, just the shield cross under the classic red. Happy to go onto more detail if interested

The Compact is my favourite pocket knife & I have a Classic SD on my key ring. Both are really useful - I just can’t work out why the compact is so expensive compared to other models with 3 layers & more tools??

I started with a Huntsman, moved up to the Ranger, and even carried a Classic SD along with it just for the nail file since the Ranger’s file is too rough for nails. Finally I realized my daily needs can all be met with just the Climber. So for about a year now a Climber with plus scales has been my EDC knife. I added the screwdriver to the corkscrew and also the stainless pin so my knife is loaded out with all that it will hold. I also keep a larger 111mm Forester in the truck and use it at work outside.

My tinker went missing. 😢 I replaced it with a new spartan. It's too nice to carry. I think it's new old stock cause it has an older tang stamp. I have a beat up wenger comander I'm gonna use.

This was a really cool video. I’m a recent collector from 🇧🇷 and I’m still finding my ground. I love special editions, but I also feel that SAKs are to be used, because it is the utmost way to respect a tool. For me it started with a Climber that my dad gave me some 27 years ago but only now I started collecting them and a Soldat (Wenger version of the Soldier) that I got as a gift in 2004. I try to improve my collection with significant SAKs and also trying to get discontinued models before they become difficult to get. I was “monitoring” a Wengerinox for sale and after your video, I just bought it straight away! Now I have to look for an Old Cross! 😂 Thanks and keep doing these awesome videos!!

I like both but am now just getting into some Alox models. I just got a Alox Pioneer X in yesterday. Going to give that one a whirl for a while. My current faves, which changes quite a bit, is the Climber and Cybertool Small. I gifted my son a Cybertool Medium and Super Tinker. Gifted both my son and daughter a Classic SD a few years ago when both went off to college. They didn't think the Classic SD would get used but came home between semesters and said they used it quite a lot, especially the scissors. I had to sharpen the blade on my daughter's one, just a touch up because she uses it a lot for package opening. I have relatives in Four Corners Arizona on the Rez there. Met them in June of this year. Maybe one day ill make it out that way. Furthest I've been is Texas. Have family on reservations in Oklahoma too. Haven't been there yet either. All cousins. Hope all is well. Still come back here from time to time to watch some of your videos, when I have the time. Take care.

Great video!! The Executive is a great combination of size and capabilities. It is very gentlemanly, and if I expect to need bottle/can openers, I can back it up with a wallet ninja or other card-size multi-tool. I always like to have scissors, so when I go spartan/sportsman/tourist etc, I back them up with a classic alox or even a swisscard. Double carry is the way to go. If you are not a SAK expert, what does that make us?? 😅😅😅
@pudimdecana514 ай бұрын
Great collection! There is something about the 84mm models that can’t be explained easily. They have the same capabilities of the 91mm models but in a slightly more compact frame, and they feel “mignon” in the hand. I have a 1986 small climber that I treasure a lot, and I always enjoy carrying the 2 layer models, especially the sportsman and tourist (and the tinker small). There is also always a bantam in my wallet and the waiter was my go-to wine opener at home. Ironically, the one I carry the less is the cadet, probably because I only have special editions. I have to get a “vanilla” one to beat up. Felix Immler has a video showing how to open space for the pen in the scales. Check it out.

If you looking on the back side of the older version, you will see, that there is no middle layer like on the new one. That´s the reason that it is bigger.

Great video! I check all those boxes but one. I don't have an old cross SAK, but I do have a couple of soldiers, a vintage, a "weird", and a LE alox. Lately I've been digging the 111mm a lot. I recently bought a Dual X Pro, a Hunter XS, an Adventurer and a Sentinel.

You ought to get that price tag removed. Hope it doesn't stain or cause reaction to the plastic. I mean it doesn't matter, but it will just remind you how bad decision it was not to remove the sticker in the first place,
