Every time I get a scam caller now I tell them I'll pray for a real job for them instead of them being a criminal. Once I said, "you need Jesus because you're a criminal". They are always shocked and hang up.

My brother (RIP) said there's a "test" you can do. When they call, you ask if the caller can confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Almost invariably they can not. I asked my brother why they can't just say "oh sure" or something. Apparently they typically are... unable to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, if they do not believe it? He once told a Muslim caller he'd pray for her and I think she even called back later. My brother was a man of God. He passed too soon, 2 months ago. 34 years old.

But, what he is saying is a misunderstanding of 1 Corinthians 12:3. This verse says "Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit." Some people misunderstand this verse to mean that if you are not living by the Holy Spirit it is impossible for them to ever say the words "Jesus is Lord". However, that is not what this verse is talking about. The verse has to do with truly living your life by knowing and trusting that Jesus is Lord. You speak that because it's what you believe. Anyone, whether they are Christian or not is able to say the words "Jesus is Lord". And, any Christian who reads 1st Corinthians 12:3 out loud actually ends up saying the words "Jesus is accursed". So they are able to say those words exactly as quoted. But they would not speak this as being something they believed in. A simple test of this is to go up to any atheist and ask them to say the words "Jesus is Lord". Obviously, some might not want to as they might not know what you are trying to do, but if you explain what you are trying to test, most of them would show you that they can speak the words "Jesus is Lord".

The more we elders can do this, the better off everyone is. Sometimes I just start speaking Swedish or German and they hang up after a few minutes. It's good to ask lots of questions, which keeps them on the phone longer and can be lots of fun!

I usually recite a Poem in Spanish which I learned in High School in the 1960s. It’s all about El Cid and very boring. They usually hang up! I’m 75 now but I don’t get many scammer calls now as I have caller display and don’t pick up the phone if I don’t recognise the number. Years ago I remember getting a call wanting to get me compensation for my recent ‘accident’ so I went along with it and when he asked what my injuries were I told him they were terrible and he was lucky I could even talk, as I’d been decapitated! They often would swear at me before hanging up.

My dad does this type of thing. When the scammer calls and asks "How are you doing today?". My dad starts off with, "Well not so good" then goes off making up health problems, trouble at work, all the home appliances breaking, the dog ran away. Pretty much an old country western song where everything has gone wrong. Eventually they just hang up.

He called to see if anyone else could speak? It was so fun. Told him I had my computer ready.. he spoke slowly, I was cracking up! In the end, he said the key is on your keyboard ma’am!!! Listen!! My grandmother told me she recieved a phone call in the middle of the night with the person on the other line breathing heavily and asking what she was wearing. I was so upset this happened to her but she said, -Don't be silly, I just wish I had a whistle in that moment, to blow in...hard. 😂 🙌 We give old ladies way too little credit!

I was getting 8-10 scammers calling every single day. I got rid of them recently by getting their first name, then overtaking them, saying I was so glad my grandson (inset their first name) called because I was promised you would call me on your birthday-so I sing Happy Birthday, loudly and off key. Then I very excitedly say thanks for the tickets to Paris, I have my passport ready when is he picking me up?
