i gave you a thumbs up because you are the first i have seen on youtube that showed the hanger, i do wish you showed more of the tail pipe, nice job, thanks
@A_Renaissance_Man3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. As I recall the tail pipe was disconnected and moved out of the way. I did not remove the tail pipe from under the Jeep. The ramps and jacks that I had did not provide enough room for removal.

Im having this problem now and i need to kno , I don't do any major riding right now because of this to work nd BK my job is like 1mile from home, but what im asking is how long can i ride on this problem
@A_Renaissance_Man9 ай бұрын
If the check engine light is off then the converter is just rattling around the container. Next question is if you can pass State Inspection. That is where you will have to have the work done or not.

I was off reading in my wj and I ended up getting in a situation where a tree limb went in between my frame and muffler and cut into what seems to be installation. is that a hard fix ... do I really need it ? I need some advice thank you !
@AA-zm4ow2 жыл бұрын
Use a mini propane or methane torch to heat up either bang on the clamps first loosen them off to come off quick while hot, can use chisel in the slits, or use a come, along , straps, heated of course,
@TebowTime20148 жыл бұрын
Great video, the angles you got were pretty good. I had to do this on a 97 Cherokee which was not pleasant. Also was the converter you used direct or universal fit?
@A_Renaissance_Man8 жыл бұрын
+Kyle Delgado-Bjornell The Cat was a direct replacement. I do not like exhaust work and therefore, I do not the addition hassle of fitting mismatched tube ends.
@AA-zm4ow Жыл бұрын
I hate those expansion tool , I use a long pipe inside a pipe with a good piece of 2x4 banged in not too hard after that use a pipe wrench to twist n pull out backwards if it's off the vehicle a sideways jack can use sideways with backing plate n 2by4 near a wall rim post pole, I like the pipes slide in more going in then a screw on ring tack weld end so it won't slide , cause thiefs use other methods ,

Is this cat setup a factory unit? I have to replace my cat thats why Im here.
@A_Renaissance_Man4 жыл бұрын
Yes. I rarely go aftermarket anymore due to quality control problems like there is no quality control on a large majority of aftermarket that is one reason aftermarket is so cheap.

Let me assure you that you spend more on gas for the round trip then you will recieve in cash. You best bet is to see if a junk yard will give you anything.

I did mine maybe 5-6 years ago as it was rattling too, I brought the new CAT. with a new muffler and tailpipe to Meineke and they installed for 100, I also replaced O2 sensor with Bosch unit-- yeah exhaust work on the floor sucks
@A_Renaissance_Man7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. That was a good price. I rarely go to the shop but I do when I do not want to do the work. I call that a convenience fee.
@zxtenn7 жыл бұрын
Exhaust is about the only thing I don't do myself as well- I don't have air tools, lift or torch so to spend labor every 3 years wont kill me, hoping the front/engine pipe stays healthy and quiet because the manifold studs l look very weak and replacing those most likely requires removing the manifolds
@alschafer42924 жыл бұрын
2002 4.0 with split manifold totally different.
@A_Renaissance_Man4 жыл бұрын
Yea, you are correct, there are a bunch of differences but, I am going by the Haynes Manual because of the vast number of differences.
@alschafer42924 жыл бұрын
Right, there are no O2 Sensors on the rear Third Cat. Not sure what it's purpose is......Mopar ???

+David Prokity I was asking what year jeep you are presently working on in this video? You answered my question indirectly. I am asking because mine is a 2001 and it has 3 cats to replace. Your only showing 1. But the inside of your jeep looks like a 99-2002
@A_Renaissance_Man8 жыл бұрын
+Stringer Media That Jeep was a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado, with the V8 engine
@stringermedia58758 жыл бұрын
Wish mine was like that. From what I read on a jeep forum some jeeps depending on the year and state have 3 cats like mine which is 2001 Grand Cherokee Loredo. Thank You.

Wow way to over work a fix! The rattle was the heat shield nothing inside the Cat itself... Honeycomb resting inside bottom rattling my arse!!! You can even see the heat shield move when he hits the bottom. Heat shields are always the first thing to go on a cat and unless you park on dry grass you dont even need the heat shield you have plenty of space and heat shielding on the underside of the chassis already.
@NoWr2Run6 жыл бұрын
WRONG when he shakes the old one compared to the new one you can definitely hear the crap inside bouncing around. Yes the heat shield might of been loose also but the cat was SHOT.

Yeah, you left out all the hanger stuff during the removal process, etc.
@A_Renaissance_Man6 жыл бұрын
For this single exhaust V8 Engine, there is a hanger at the starter and one in the rear for the muffler. Neither had to be dealt with for replacing the Cat. I cannot comment on the straight 6 equipped Jeeps.
