How To Delete Your Catalytic Converter!

Hey guys in this video i show you how i gutted my catalytic converter on my 2006 Nissan Altima. Please keep in mind that tempering with catalytic converters is illegal in several states but If you live in Mexico and dont have regulations this is a great way to gain Horsepower. Use a drill with a wood spade bit with an extension added to the spade bit. Drill holes in it all over(the honeycomb) to break it up and then use a shop vac to clean it out. Way less work.

Get a big hole saw with a drill extension and make a big hole in the center first, then break stuff out. If you have a hole saw as big as your exhaust pipe then all you need to do is drill out the hole through both ceramic disks to creat a straight through exhaust flow.

Hey dude, it would have been better to remove the whole pipe before hammering because you are putting an incredible amount of force against the whole pipe going to the headers which can cause an exhaust leak and damaged pipes/headers...I know because I did that with my integra back in the day

No disrespect, but if somebody tries that and their manifold studs and nuts are rusted to shit they might end up with an exhaust leak lol. I get where you're coming from though and you made a good video, just a thought for someone who might try this themselves and end up breaking off old rusted exhaust studs.

i used your advice and decided to unbolt my primary cat without gutting it yet to see how it sounds on my stock genesis coupe. i took it for a spin after and it was UNBELIEVABLE. The car was misfiring badly and had a bad trans and i got it all fixed but it was super slow being my first stock genesis coupe and the cats underneath where there is no o2 had to be hella clogged. it sounds like i have an external wastegate dumping to atmosphere. And the MOST important part. the car is literally pulling soo hard now i couldn't believe it. never threw me in my seat now it is. it literally feels like it gained 40 hp. it sounds like it has over 300+hp lol. going to gut the both cats out then install it back into the muffler later on.

Did it have 02 sensors on the cat? I’m thinking about doing this on my 17’ Sonata, with an upper and lower 02 sensor, may have to get a spark plug defouler for the lower if the cat throws a code. But without the honeycomb, the car would have a free flowing cat, which is attached to the manifold. Easy enough to get too, but still work to reach. If I can get the comb popped off/out, I think my exhaust stock will pop with mufflers on.

Yes wear a mask. I had a 1983 Saab 900 turbo that I used a 1 1/2 inch wood spade bit to cut a core through the center of the honeycomb cat . Left remainder there. Car ran a lot stronger for next 100K miles but old air cooled turbos only lasted 65K miles. I abused the crap out of the motor as under back seat could turn up boost and I ran 104 Octane booster . Ate up Corvettes , Mustangs and Camaros back then . Also ate up front tires every 20K miles but worth it to see the look on Billy Bob's face.

@@charlesbelville5090 cut it and knock out the comb or use chemicals to clean out the carbon.. scotty kilmer made a video using lacquer thinner to clean a converter.. if you can, just cut it off, it helps all cars run better, but eventually need to get it tuned after that. Also on newer cars gotta worry about it throwing a code.

You need to put a straight pipe in place of the cat and you need to delete the egr system with a block of plat also remove the smog pump if you have one and install o2 sensor plugs which can be purchased on ebay then you will be ok in the state of MA you can do this if you car is at least 15 years old or older because they do not require emissions testings as long as they are quite so you have to leave the resonator and muffler alone.

Chuck Taylor problem with rock auto or similar catalytic converters is that they are garbage. I have installed off brand cats for customers and had them accuse me of not doing the repair because their cel would come back on in a week. Aftermarket cats use less than the minimum required to get the job done

put straight pipes through in pace of cats if you must, cause cats are worth $$$ as scrap, that is why exhaust outlets promote removal or replacement, they make a lot from collecting them all for bulk scrap. I make good $$$ later on to put them all back as std and return car running to smooth and fuel efficient once more

This is good. It seemed like there was piece of sheetrock stuck in the cat. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima, just changed the motor at 220, I didnt have to but A mechanic took my old motor apart when he changed the alternator to get to the timing chain that clicked. I wasnt happy since these cars make the ticking noise bc of the timing guide, anyhow that starts around 150k they said the motor that was installed has 77k, but im saying it has 135k since i know the noise of these vehicles. The old motor could have made it to 250k before a rebuild. what can you do. Alternator isnt a joke on these cars by the way.

the catalytic converter is welded on the y pipe i would have to cut the test pipe and then cut the y pipe and it still might not fit plus this was fast and free.
