@7:21 you hold the two sensors up : on the left is the wrong aftermarket unit with the tapered element and the incorrect black plastic loom connection and on the right is the 9U2Z unit with the reduced shank element and the proper grey plastic loom connection. However, the correct part is the Ford F2AF-12A648-AA unit , which is a combination of the two - with the tapered element and the grey plastic loom connection. That same unit also fits onto several other Ford cars.

I bought 3 sensors from American Muscle, and the sensors all looked different. Some looked pointed, and others looked similar to the temperature sender. All three worked as the fan will not come on at 195 if it is not working correctly. This is the link for the part. Correct, this part is used on fords between 83 and 2011, though you have to rewire the pigtail. www.americanmuscle.com/ford-temp-sensor-8395.html?Engine%20-%20Sensors%7CFord&T5_Var4=52982&T5_Var2=shopping&AMM+Mustang+Brands+%26+Vehicle+Low+LTVMiddle&T5_Var3=blue&intl=0&dialogtech=ppc&gclid=CjwKCAjw9J2iBhBPEiwAErwpeWbPi059Xl-KgckZi0rQ_RpUAPXrvUWwBEUgxwR5R9ys77mcuVARpRoCnOIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

@@chasingmustangs , The sensor is actually a "thermocouple" and not a "switch" like in the older days. This sensor actually tells the PCM / ECU what is the temperature of the coolant (by means of its resistance changing by temperature). The PCM / ECU then decides in which configuration should the fan run, i.e. (1) off ; (2) slow speed ; or (3) high speed. The fan motor has two two sets of coils in the motor. Basically it is two motors built in one. Inside the CCRM are three BOSCH relays that will switch the three wires to the fan according to what the PCM / ECU tells it to do. At slow speed (83 degrees Celsius) the two sets of coils in the motor are switched in series and therefore both motors run at 6 Volt. When the temperature rises above 108 degrees Celsius, the relays switch the motors in parallel so that both motors get 12 Volt and then it runs at high speed. The tapered sensor (F2AF) is in fact the original type sensor for the Mustang, but the PCM / ECU might get faulty - for various reasons. The alternative sensor (9U2Z) fits the Ford F150 truck, but also fits the Mustang. Seeing that trucks generally tow huge loads and are therefore more prone to overheating, it makes sense to rater install the F150 sensor into the Mustang as it will activate the fans at lower temperatures.

The fan also feeds through the high pressure A/C solenoid. If the fan does not turn on when you put the car A/C on, I would check that.

Ill try to jump the sensor wire to see if fan will run. Ck'd fuses all good. But i had no power to that 10 amp fuse. But i dont think i had the key on ???
@chasingmustangs8 ай бұрын
94 and 95 Mustangs were known for electrical fires on the fan harness. There was a recall on the cars. In fact, the recall was still the 95 Mustang I have, and Ford fixed it. Might be worth checking Fords recall site.
@Airsally7 ай бұрын
OK I ran the car untill hot, I had power to the fan with AC on, and sometimes at the middle wire. The ground ck good at 4.7 ohms. Jumping the sensor did nothing and fan didn't run with ac on. So I pulled the fan and ran power to the connector with a 12v batt. And motor ran. Still no power at that 10 amp fuse. Car runs fine and ccrm clicks when doing a self test with ck eng light checker, but no fan running.whats next? CCRM, OR SENSOR?
@chasingmustangs7 ай бұрын
@@Airsally If you jumped the sensor and no progress, then it is the CCRM. CCRM's are getting expensive, might be time to consider running the fan direct kit to battery. Again, make sure the fan wires are not melting in the harness, a common problem on 94 95 Mustang.

@@larryballona5918 Did you jumper the coolant temperature harness like I showed in the video? Also, do you have the fuse plug between the fan and the fan wiring harness? If you do, it has fuses on it and I would check them. 94 and 95 Mustangs had a recall for the fan, I would double check you don't have open recall. I got my 95 Mustang recall fix installed 6 months ago.

Does the fan turn smoothly at all when the car is switched off and you turn it by hand ; or is it rough? My GT overheated after the entire fan stopped working as its bearings had seized up. There was a whole lot of consequential damages after that as well.
@iamn3602 жыл бұрын
I'd Ike to point out that it's the 20 amp fuse down one on the row that's the one that controls the fan. Not the 10 amp

Are you sure you not looking at the manual for a 96 to 98 Mustang. I looked at owners manual and shop manual and they said it was that fuse. The interesting thing is my 95 Mustang has two recalls. One is related to the fuse system for the fan and the other is hood separation. I go in this week to have the work done, I will ask them the correct fuse. Hard to believe a recall is open on a 27 year old car.

Sounds like CCRM is going bad. You might order one at Autozone and replace it and if it doesn't fix it return the part. Just don't return the core until you know it is the problem.

Those SIEMENS fan motor inside the impeller is absolute crap as their sealed bearings seize up. When the fan periodically stops / starts, it could be your fan motor packing up. To make matters worse : it is a 2-speed motor - nothing standard.

@chasingmustangs2 жыл бұрын
So, a couple of things to check. The electric fan runs through the low AC temperature sensor and high Temperature Sensor before going to the CCRM. I would make sure you have both AC sensors installed. Watch my video about AC replacement and you will see locations of both sensors. If these sensors are not installed or you have a bad pigtail the fan will not turn on.
