Try a little shot of brake cleaner in to the carb. Mine starts right up after a long winter sleep here in Canada. Cheers.

Was routing for you guys every kick! Love the channel. Watching from the UK, just getting into the whole chopper thing. Bought a sportster chop last month and buzzing for some better weather so I can get out riding! Much love guys 👍

Brings back memories!! I had a '48 shovel/pan that I bought in '74. I put a magneto and a 38mm Mikuni on it in '76. With my limited tuning skills, it took me a while to get it dialed in. Once I got it running right it ran great as long as the points and plugs were clean and fresh. I love what y'all are doing, and I love your channel!! Keep it up!!

Nice one. Is the smoking from the pipe wrap or burning oil or does anyone have a thought?
@947w0rks2 жыл бұрын
I’d say both! The wrap was a major cause of it but there was also quite a bit of oil leaking.
@rustythrottle57132 жыл бұрын
New wrap will smoke a bit, but it doesn't take much oil on the wrap to make it smoke like Cheech and Chong in the 80's.

Sounded like the knuckle was only firing on the rear cylinder at first. Ever get it to run smoothly?
@947w0rks2 жыл бұрын
You are right! It was only running on one cylinder intermittently. The timing was just slightly off. Have to retime it again!

Should have gotten a Knuckle guy to start it, 3 kicks would have been my guess.
@ChefPelle2 жыл бұрын
OK, here's how you Kickstart a Harley (as you don't know): ignition OFF, three kicks with wide open throttle to prime it. Ignition ON - starts in 1 to 2 kicks. Every time. If it doesn't, it's not properly set up. You're welcome.

Love the little Hondas when I was growing up in the 70s there was nothing better than a Honda sure Kawasakis for fast and Yamahas for fast but Honda ruled the 1970s they made the best motorcycles in the world they were affordable they were easy to maintain they were reliable nothing more reliable than a Honda in the 1970s you batcha you ask a Harley guy with Harley tattoos from head to toe what he started to ride on and if he's honest he'll sell you don't tell anybody a little Honda when I went to high school you have to ride the bus only teachers park at the high school since I was a teaching assistant I decided I deserved a parking spot to park my little Honda and nobody said boo about it for 4 years I am in my high school yearbook in my fake Kmart leather jacket reading Cycle World with the two-page ad showing the Honda 400 Hawk I opened it to that page to show that it was a motorcycle magazine in the 70s there was nothing like a Honda they ruled motorcycling I remember reading and a motorcycle magazine that they had a new motorcycle plant where a new Honda CB750 four came off the assembly line every 3 minutes imagine that

This is all a learning experience for me, I learn something new everyday and I’m not perfect at it nor do I know everything but Harley’s hold a very special place in my heart which is why I choose to work on them. I get where you are coming from and some things I’ve filmed in the past I look back on and feel the way you do haha but as long as I progress and keep learning is what matters to me! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great day!
