John, I just did a little backhoe work several hours ago and had to remove one heck of a tap root from a loblolly pine tree. Lesson learned....I will not cut trees flush with the ground again unless I intend never to remove the stump and root-ball. Root-ball was about 4 to 5 feet long. Took me about 2 hours to get that sucker out. Thought of you and wanted to give a shout. Later brother.

I was just thinking about you and that thumb. lol That's a hech of a root! Yea, leaving the stump 2-3 feet above ground helps a lot when digging them out. Have a good weekend!!

How's she goin'? Nice job getting the stump out!!! The new set up is some nice eh!!! With the trenching bucket you sure and do some nifty digging. One thing I noticed though is when you lower the boom and push with the stick, the hydraulic hoses and cylinder for bucket curl hits against the root. That'll be something you'd need to be careful of so you don't damage the gear!!! Thanks for posting John!!! Take care!!

Great work, John! Glad you got to get some quality seat time on your Massey! I learned a few techniques from you for using my BXpanded ripper and trencher bucket. First let me say that I don’t have a tractor, so perhaps my comment isn’t even valid….. I noticed in the first video that you seemed to be “pulling” yourself closer to the hole, and am wondering if you had of put your bucket on the ground if that would have helped preventing you from moving? I watched your video because I live on a 2 acre piece of land and was wondering if I needed/wanted a tractor to help me remove my stumps…..and other small jobs. Whether it’s a MF or another brand like the Mahindra, I think you may have sold me on wanting one, as my ATV can only do so much of the heavy work. P.S. The music that went with the videos was a great choice.
@LouisianaTractorworks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Paul, for watching and the comment! Yes, keeping your FEL bucket on the ground and stabilizers is the only way you should work a backhoe. But having all that still don't stop that backhoe from pulling the tractor. Thanks again for the kind comment. Let me know what tractor you decide to get. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
