Got to dig up our first stump with the BXpanded Root Ripper and Trenching bucket. The stump was close to other trees and the roots were tangled together. The Ripper made it easy to cut through the roots and the trenching bucket allowed me to minimize the size of hole I had to dig to remove the stump!

John, I just did a little backhoe work several hours ago and had to remove one heck of a tap root from a loblolly pine tree. Lesson learned....I will not cut trees flush with the ground again unless I intend never to remove the stump and root-ball. Root-ball was about 4 to 5 feet long. Took me about 2 hours to get that sucker out. Thought of you and wanted to give a shout. Later brother.

I’ve learned that once you get the stump loose and all major roots are removed just secure the backhoe and push the stump over with the front bucket. You have more power at the wheel than using your backhoe.

How's she goin'? Nice job getting the stump out!!! The new set up is some nice eh!!! With the trenching bucket you sure and do some nifty digging. One thing I noticed though is when you lower the boom and push with the stick, the hydraulic hoses and cylinder for bucket curl hits against the root. love ur videos. they help me out alot when working on my gc1710.. i had a issue wanted to tell u about.. i was bush hogging the other day and a tree limb came up and hit my hydraulic oil filter and broke it off. i highly advise welding a plate on the front of the oil filter guard.. the local massey dealer quoted me $5400 to fix it. they have to replace the whole front late of the rear end. i found another shop closer to me that quoted me around $1500. he told me the more stuff i can take off the less time it wil take him to fx it, which would make it cheaper. im trying to take the floot pans, seat and rear fender panel off so he can access it easier.. im stuck at the floor pans.. the hydraulic connections for the loader are keeping me from being able to get the right side floor pan off. do u have any advice for taking off the floor pans?. thank you. and keep up the massey vids!!!!

First let me say that I don’t have a tractor, so perhaps my comment isn’t even valid….. I noticed in the first video that you seemed to be “pulling” yourself closer to the hole, and am wondering if you had of put your bucket on the ground if that would have helped preventing you from moving? I watched your video because I live on a 2 acre piece of land and was wondering if I needed/wanted a tractor to help me remove my stumps…..and other small jobs. Whether it’s a MF or another brand like the Mahindra, I think you may have sold me on wanting one, as my ATV can only do so much of the heavy work. P.S. The music that went with the videos was a great choice.

Thank you Paul, for watching and the comment! Yes, keeping your FEL bucket on the ground and stabilizers is the only way you should work a backhoe. But having all that still don't stop that backhoe from pulling the tractor. Thanks again for the kind comment. Let me know what tractor you decide to get. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
