95 Silverado TBI 350 Starter Grinding & No Start

Working on my Dad's 1995 stepside chevy c1500 Silverado work truck with a tbi "throttle body injection" 350 that we swapped in a few years ago because the original 305 was smoking real bad but now the old 350 is getting wore out too... been having issues with it for a while now and now the starter is grinding and not connecting with the flywheel plus we have a no spark situation but in this video I get those problems fixed but she still has some more work that needs done..

Hell yeah brother..... cherish every moment you have or get to have with your old man..... I lost mine in 2016 to fu$kin cancer..... but we always worked on old trucks and cars together.... built some nice ones too.... I try to show my son how to work on'em and its still hard sometimes... but he knows when it starts to get to me.... he'll either start talking about his pappaw how he was a goofy ass or he'll have me go inside and leave it alone for a while.... then come back..... lol. Also the temp censor in the intake. That one tells computer when to adjust for heat and cold... I replaced one with a new one and didn't make a difference but still knew that's what its was so i put a used one in it and fixed it.

Check wires to coolant temperature sensor for that crazy idle…. I ran to that before

I had the same problem with my daughters car I had to give it gas to start it. So I cleaned the throttle body and mass air flow sensor and that solved the problem.

I know I'm late to tha party, but it sounds like the throttle body needs to be rebuilt. Had 1 a couple of weeks ago seeping fuel out tha bottom of the injector housing and a rebuild kit here in GA cost me $26. Might be worth a shot.

Head/Headgasket leak thru one or more cylinders at a slow rate and it may have sat with a little coolant in a cylinder, maybe thats why it's tight turns slow sluggish etc... Run it often on the harder side tryna break her in again In next few day might clear up

Try the fuel pump , my 1990 chevy was doing the same thing. Changed the fuel pump worked great.

EGR solenoid and the map sensor vacuum?! For irratic idle and if it is loading up and backfiring try the EGR valve which may not necessarily be bad just need cleaned up and the passage in the intake it bolts into could be plugged up..

Does that year have the brown wire you need to unplug whenever you are doing timing. They are usually by the steering column under hood

Mass air flow and make it run and run rough and one other thing there is one transmission that will working at and that's a 94 I had one just like it and the only transmission you can put in it is a 94 or 95

No mass air flow on tbi and its a 95.. 95 is one year only... 93 and 94 are the same trans.. 95 is by itself

How does your inspection work in your state? In NY 95 an older is no plug in. Safety only.

i got the same truck that mf having some problems im not sure what the issue is don’t know if it’s the timing that’s wrong or what but i’ve replaced the starter,spark plugs and fuel filter starts up but has trouble staying on. you think you have an idea what it can be ?

It could be a number of things.. timing, fuel psi, coolant temp sensor, egr, injectors clogged or not working etc.. it can be a pain lol... I think our problem may of been the ecm since the truck came with a 305 and we put a 350 in it but I haven't had that issue before with swaps so not sure. I never changed the o2 sensor either so that may of been the issue. Trucks gone now tho

Could be computer issue for idling. Ecm is programmed for a 305.

With it idling funny and flooding out, maybe try another coolant temp sensor and maybe a MAP sensor or the fuel pump could be putting out too much or not enough fuel pressure or you may have an injector o ring leaking allowing raw fuel to leak around the injectors. Just a few ideas, I'm sure you have already looked into most of what I have said though. Hope it helps.

You didn’t have spark because you pulled the boot off of the distributor and not the plug to check for spark. You were going from the plug to the screwdriver lol. I know it was an honest mistake tho cause you know your trucks bubba

Na I pulled the plug wire off the spark plug.. I know what you talking about but I pulled that off after I had done checked spark from the plug wire... it didn't have spark because the button in the cap was gone

True no MAF since it’s a speed density system but the MAP sensor is a green 3 wire plug and the vacuum tap for it is on the back of the throttle body. Though a bad sensor would likely pop the SES light. Wish you was in NC or I was in Mississippi.
