Right, guys, I think I can speak candidly as you have already openly said that you know you have inherited a bit of a problem and are trying to work out where yout new niche lies. This video shows promise. You need to play to your strengths, and one of those is acces to press cars. Ludicrous consimer testing (how many gloves can you actually fit in the glovebox, a la early Clarkson lead top gear) could well be the one. Good luck!

Audience got sold on the chemistry between the original 3 and their friends which even though these guys are good they can't replicate, did you really do the math and figure out that replacing the main selling points of your products with a lengthy and expensive trio was better than to solve what kept the others apart? . In my experience the cheaper the better for a convertible. I ran a 17 year old Astra Twintop 1.6 it was dog slow but with the roof down you simply didnt care

I would have to agree we have a 2015 ford kuga for our daily and she is absalutly briliant no faults to he had but i also own a 1993 ford escort convertable she is a bit crappy and is not reliable but she has so mutch more charictor about her id have her over any new car if i had to choose

@@brianconnelly7823 Speaking re Alex, he gained control of his brand, and greater income. The attempts at keeping up the same routine with Jack and Ethan and etc. guests, didn’t work quite well. They left, so what was Carthrottle supposed to do? What could they have done to keep Alex? Greater pay and authority wouldn’t have because he (clearly) saw and sees himself as the star of the show. His leaving was inevitable. Re top gear, the same presenters weren’t on for 20yrs, and even with the legendary trio, quality was declining and the routine was getting old. Same with TGT. Things change.

@@bck0001 All the old team left because Carthrottle was penny-pinching, they wanted to stop doing banger/restoration projects, and were purely driven by profit. I agree Alex leaving was inevitable at some point, but the entire team leaving simultaneously tells you all you need to know. If the channel completely changes direction would you have stayed? I've given the channel a chance but the stuff they're putting out now is complete guff.

It has nothing to do with the chicken tax because this car is not a truck or based on one. It's not sold in the US for the same reason the non GTi golfs aren't: Americans don't like small cars

It seems you are correct. The chicken tax only applies to light trucks (for a very loose definition of "light truck", because we can't have nice things, ever). It's a whopping 25% though, which is why a lot of Japanese companies moved production to the US. For all other vehicles, they still get a 2.5% tariff though, which means that a $40,000 GTI now has to cost $41k for them to make the same amount of profit.
