Mike - Great video. You're doing this maintenance took me back to the 70s when I worked part time in a service station doing oil changes on cars. The list of what to do, to do it right, is pretty much the same. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you, Melissa, and the family. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.

Nice video Mike!! If I may, I would like to mention a couple things as a BX23s owner who has done a couple services on my own unit, and I have been a heavy mechanic for 40 years. The backhoe should be removed during a service for two reasons. The front end becomes very light and a bit dangerous if you hit the forward pedal hard without the FEL, and also you can access a mesh screen for the hydraulic fluid that is at the rear on the left side of the transmission that should be cleaned as well as the filter you replaced (yes, even at 50 hours). This involves changing all the hydraulic fluid in the trasmission, but it is a good idea since there is usually silicone bits floating around from manufacture that get caught in this small mesh filter. Great that you used the Kubota filters and oil because they are good quality. A good Rotella oil will also suffice. The engine filter should be filled with oil before installation. This helps with pressure on startup, but most importantly it pre-soaks the paper element so that it does not blow out on startup. Please take this as helpful advice and not criticism. You did a great job explaining to new owners who would like to do the maintenance themselves.

Brent... I hav a BX23s as well... both filters are installed horizontally. How do you fill them with oil and not drench your feet/face with oil? I’m genuinely curious.
@brentholmes3339
@brentholmes3339 3 жыл бұрын
@@sassafrasvalley1939 HA, good question!! You do not actually fill the filter to the top with oil. If you fill the filter approximately 1/3 to 1/2 full and let the oil seep into the filter media, it will not run out of the filter when turned sideways. Keep adding oil until it is obvious when it will spill if you turn it horizontal. You may be surprised at how much oil can be in a filter when the filter media is wet. Also, make sure that you put oil on the rubber sealing ring as Mike showed in his video.

Great job Mike you may or may not know when it is time to change fuel filters you can see one but the bx has one up under the floor board. It's up above the hydraulic filter and can be a gripe to get to. I know some folks who changed the one on the motor and didn't know about the other one and had problems. It's nothing but an online filter but it can be a pain to get to. Thanks for sharing great video

I took one of those cheap filter wrenches that is made to fit on the knureled end of the filter and welded a cut down a 3/8 socket to the wrench so i could use a ratchet, the hard part is finding the right size to fit your filter. This works if you have enough room on the bottom of the filter to fit the wrench and ratchet.

Oh you should also check the coolant overflow tank because it looks to be way UNDER the add line . You may want to fill that up to the full mark when cold !! I seen it when you checked the oil . Also a good tip is always check the old filter for the old seal that it also came off with the old filter . I seen a lot of times it sticks on the tractor so when you put the new one on it leaks because it now has 2 seals and it wont leak till you start it up.

Greetings from middle Tennessee! On trek back to NC with both sons. -- you sure have easier operations than on my old Ford 3000. I despair of ever taking that FEL off. As a mechanic put it, in those days they married FELs to tractors. There’s both easier access to fluids and a lot less of it too! I think a full oil, transmission, hydraulic, and power steering change is 13 gallons for me. And most of it is hard to access, with overflow plugs for checking level, which actually institutionalizes oil spills. I think you’re the only person I’ve ever seen so fastidious they power wash a tractor before a rain! 😉 Y’all have a good Thanksgiving!

Hi, Mike. Thanks for the videos and pointers. Curious, i have the old standard hydraulic connectors and when I remove hydraulic lines I need to shut off the tractor and work the controls to release pressure. I didn't notice that in your video. Is that because of the flat face and quick connect, or did you do it and I missed it? I really like that quick connect for the hydraulic lines! Well, have a day and have a Thanksgiving! Thanks.

Lots more leverage in those quick connects....so not usually needed to neutralize the pressure. But it does help sometimes

Geez! They sure made disconnecting the stuff easy. I always pour some oil into the filters that go on horizontally. Those that go straight up I fill. It's said that over time, more wear is done to the engine by having an empty filter than normal wear is.

More wear is done to the engine when you forget to put oil back in the engine or forget the drain plug and add oil...or both LOL...just ask Jiffy Lube they're great for doing both those HAHA!!! Although I've never pre-filled any of my filters some people think they need to...I've never had an engine issue in 30+ years.

Looks like kabota has simplified the removing the loader and the 50hr service didnt appear to be too bad either. Now lets see it do some digging. Hopefully we will have some drone footage of that project. Stay well, stay safe and yall HAVE A DAY

On my BX2200, when I change the filters, I write the date and number of hours on the filters. That is the easiest way for me to keep up with oil changes.
