@KillingItCountry3 жыл бұрын
As long as whatever draw bar you have inserted into the receiver doesn’t interfere with the basic functions of the backhoe, I see no reason why you couldn’t have a small trailer connected and positioned off to the side of your excavation area. Neat idea Dan, thanks for watching and commenting.

Great video again How about BXPANDED TRAILER HITCH FOR THEE BUCKET ON THE BACKHOE
@KillingItCountry3 жыл бұрын
Great question. BXPANDED appears to make great products although I cannot personally vouch for any of them as I do not currently own any. If you are specifically speaking to their “BH Mounted 2" Receiver for Kubota BX24, 25, 25D” - I would not use this particular attachment. I believe the potential exists to exceed Kubota’s design criteria and damage the backhoe from excessive loads depending on what is being towed (especially side-loading the backhoe - think “driving downhill on pavement while turning a sharp corner and having to hit the brakes”). In my opinion this is not what the back hoe was designed for. Could a reasonable person use this attachment with great success? Absolutely! I just felt that there was a better way and I’m working towards trying to figure it out for myself. Thanks for watching and for commenting Edward!

That’s a great idea imo… the the thicker the sleeve used for the threaded rod the better. I would suggest using square stock to get the best surface contact. Awesome idea and I’m thinking of getting the same tractor. You just helped answer a question for me thx
@KillingItCountry3 жыл бұрын
Hi John!! Glad this video helped you to figure something out! I’ve always felt that not being able to tow with the BH on was a major design flaw! The square stock comment is spot on! Great idea! May have something fabbed up to sleeve the bolt that is as wide as the draw bar to prevent any side to side movement! Have a great week!

James, I'm taking delivery on my backhoe tomorrow and plan to install the KIC Hitch as you have outlined. Have you learned anything in the 10 months you've been using it, or would you modify anything from the original design?
@KillingItCountry2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’ve found it to be awesome! It’ll break the tractor in half before it will bend. Use nylock nuts so it all stays tight.

I like it for smaller/lighter trailers.
@KillingItCountry Жыл бұрын
The BX should only tow smaller and lighter trailers - so I agree with you!!
@gpwrinkled5 ай бұрын
Great option. I notice in your other video where you are loading and unloading the dump trailer behind the BX25D (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGq4hquNfa2ihtE), that as the trailer is dumping and reaches a 'tipping' point where tongue weight goes negative then the hitch moves upward a bit. With just a nut on the very top of the threaded rod, and on the very bottom of the rod, the only force being controlled is the downward tongue weight. Once the tongue weight goes negative as the dump trailer pulls up on the ball, then there is flex introduced to the hitch connection under the tractor. A suggestion would be to use two additional nuts on the threaded rod... one below the backhoe plate (tightened against the plate) and one on top of the receiver hitch. This will lock the receiver in place so you have stability in both the loaded and unloaded tongue scenarios. It seems this will prevent flex and potential failure under the tractor at the hitch plate connection. Just a thought. I intend to adopt your system, with the additional nuts I've mentioned. Thank you!
@KillingItCountry5 ай бұрын
You’re absolutely right in that the added nuts will add stability. My dump trailer has a removable tongue which doesn’t help. A lot of the movement you’re describing comes from this feature. Thanks so much for the excellent comment!! Best of luck with your design and happy tractoring!!!

I'll have to come up with something similar for my TYM T25. That said, I would add some sort of strap that get more closer to the backhoe. It seem pretty far still and act as a lever point, and that single bolt would end up taking a lot of the load. Had any issues in the 2 year you done this ?
@KillingItCountry Жыл бұрын
I’ve had no issues towing a reasonable load with a reasonable tongue weight. I’ve found that it’s a fantastic alternative to removing the back hoe and using a standard draw bar with my heavy hitch. Thanks for stopping by.
@matthewhayes776511 ай бұрын
how much would you happily tow with your BX without worrying about damaging the transmission etc?
@KillingItCountry11 ай бұрын
It’s a difficult question to answer my friend. How far are you towing? How much tongue weight etc etc … I move my father’s Forest River Surveyor 243RBS around the property a short distance and it handles it well - but NOT using this custom towing adapter. I put a draw bar directly into the heavy-hitch. Avoiding damage is a combination of common sense and knowing your machine’s capabilities.
@peaceriverpowersaws95342 жыл бұрын
I welded a 6" receiver to the base the hoe. It will never bend because of length. You can swing the hoe to either side and thereby "OFFSET" whatever you're towing if necessary.
@KillingItCountry2 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! I don’t have a welder so I had to come up with something else! Thanks for watching!

@eletourneau9424 Жыл бұрын

@KillingItCountry Жыл бұрын
@@eletourneau9424 for me, the back hoe is meant for digging, not towing.
@eletourneau9424 Жыл бұрын
I don't disagree. I thought you had a technical concern. -- I'm looking at it as an easy way to move a trailer that could weigh 3000 lb. I don't think your extended hitch could handle that.
@KillingItCountry Жыл бұрын
@eletourneau9424 I’ve moved a lot more than 3000 lbs. It all depends on weight distribution (tongue weight). If I have a lot of tongue weight, I just fill the bucket of the loader with cinder blocks to balance it out. I’m sure they sell a lot of those adapters. I just don’t like them.
@ThisOldMan-ya472 Жыл бұрын
This hitch is simpler, and adjustable left, right and center, so one can pull a trailer and fill it with the backhoe, depending which side you dig. It can be beefed up for a heavier tongue weight, if necessary. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3eXYaqahZh7gpI

@AD-hr4is3 жыл бұрын
Remember how your trailer with the water in it and when you dump it lifted the back of the tractor well now youre front end is going to be lifting when you have a heavy load in the back. Leverage point is way too far. You will need front weight now. Im 60 and been around.
@KillingItCountry3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I do remember the video where the back of my tractor came off the ground - I had a blast making that video! Rest assured I have a firm grip on the engineering principles that will be at play when I begin to employ these towing tactics with my BX and dump trailer (I.e. force applied to a moment arm (lever) about a fulcrum). The axle of my dump trailer is fairly centrally located under the dump box to minimize tongue weight during transport. As with any dumping equipment, the tractor and trailer are most vulnerable during dumping and recovery of the dump-box. As such, i have decided to both lift the front wheels off the ground slightly with the FEL and deploy the backhoe stabilizers during these movements. This will widen the tractor’s stance and increase both the lateral and longitudinal stability during dumping and recovery operations. It will only add a few seconds to the process but should greatly increase the overall safety factor. I’m not a professional tractor operator or heavy equipment operator, but I do have an engineering degree, an engineering diploma as well as a lot of practical real-world hands-on experience with a lot of machinery. Whether it fails or succeeds, you will see it on my channel. Again, thank you for watching and commenting!
