at 26sec you say 'all mechanical, so no glow plugs' .....i can promise you that so-called 'all mechanical' diesels (all) have glow plugs.

I’m sorry. My 8 years of mechanic experience working on these engines and I’ve learned nothing. Think what you want. These engines run off compression and fuel. No glow plugs needed. Glow plugs are only used on some engines to help them start when cold. After that they don’t get used again until the engine temp is below a certain threshold. And the navistar international DT466 does not have any glow plugs or intake heaters except the egr series dt466 in 2005 and on the MaxxForce DT engines introduced in 2008. Block heaters were option. But you won’t find any equipment like that on these besides the optional block heater. Go get your facts correct before you start correcting me.

@@Bluebirdvision91 i am well aware as to the principles upon which a diesel engine operates. 2 points: 1. in vid you say 'all mechanical, so no glow plugs' -note that the distinction between so-called 'mechanical diesel' and otherwise is based on whether the engine in question has electronic sensor or electronic regulator equipment built in to it. glow plug systems are electric but not electronic. 2. subsequent to your reply i googled 'dt466 glowplugs' and included in the hits were forums such as skoolie.net wherein people were asking why their dt466 seems not to have glowplugs -and so it appears that i am in error regarding my belief that all diesel engines are designed with glow plugs.

@@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 when I said all mechanical I was preferring tho this one particular engine. There’s no electronic parts whatsoever running this engine. Mechanical operation only. But no. There’s not many inline 6 diesels that have glow plugs if any. Glow plugs were used most commonly on V8 diesels. And other inline 6 engines you’ll find and intake heater.

I used to ride a 97 International Bluebird that was made like this one. Seems like the engine sounded different. I could be wrong. I haven't been on that bus since 1999. Seems like I would get switched to a different driver or move not long after a driver I was with for a while got a new bus LOL.
@Bluebirdvision915 жыл бұрын
jefferyb304 yours probably had a T444E/7.3 V8 diesel. Mine has the DT466/7.6 I6 diesel.

Sounds good. These things new will start much colder. I remember starting them at 0 F one crank. That's partly because of compression ratio.
