I really appreciate your kind words! It has been a lot of work but I have had consultation from the real 3s king - Lightningdad13 (check out his channel)! www.youtube.com/@lightningdad13 Many of his videos are not public but he was doing the stuff I am doing like 4 or 5 years ago and I would have been more or less lost without him! Just that same, I really appreciate the comment! I sometimes wonder if anyone really enjoys these videos other than me. 😂 I try to put some production effort into them but my skills and time are limited!😎 Please keep me updated on what you are able to do with it! If you make a video I can give you a shout out. I know a couple others that are now working on similar goals! Good luck and keep the tire side down!

I was..... I was almost sure I was going to wreck the car again before I got a good video in and reached my goal. Also, I had been stuck in the 80s for a long time and I figured the SMC would go about 6 or 7 mph faster than that run. I was hoping to get the Hilldow to break 90 mph and I think it could have.... but it wasn't a good run. Thanks for the comment and I hope so.... in theory I am right there with a longer road, a bigger pinion, or maybe some 8 mm bullet connectors!

It's amazing that stock Traxxas ESC is able to withstand such a speed and amp draw. You can try mod 1 spur from nitro Revo, they are only 3$ and maybe is easier to do gearing that you want
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Жыл бұрын
I agree. The funny thing is now that I have my $12 fan on the ESC, by the time I get back to where I am standing and remove the cover, the fins are only warm. It may well get really hot during the run but it seems okay best I can tell. Thank you for the tip on the gears! I may end up at mod 1 as I think my last gearing option will be 37/44.... which may be enough but if not I guess mod one will let me go even taller!
@valuerc2664
@valuerc2664 Жыл бұрын
@@BriansRCStuff I have never used such a tall gearing but if I remember 32t mod 1 spur from Revo is cheap and relatively small. With 36mm diameter motors you should have decent space to move motor without hitting the gear ox housing and you can Dremel the lower hole on the housing so you can slide motor further backwards for more space to accommodate bigger pinion.
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Жыл бұрын
@@valuerc2664 Thank you for the information. I know I can run a 37/44 32p combo which gives me 1.19 to 1 final drive ratio. I am not sure how low I can go with Mod1..... I think I have heard about folks getting down to 1:1. I will have to look in that. Thanks again

@valuerc2664 Жыл бұрын
@@BriansRCStuff I don't have too much experience with speed runs but you may hit the wall when it comes to torque before gearing. Brushless motors usually have some limit of torque, power, and amp draw. At one point going too big on the pinion for certain motor will actually give you less actuall power and too much amp draw. I remember that a friend of mine completely over geared his slash and was not even faster that recommended high speed gearing, it was only 60mph and overheats after 2 speed runs. I am sure you will hit 100mph with that motor, but for higher speed you may need bigger motor. Or maybe 4s?
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Жыл бұрын
@@valuerc2664 oh no doubt.... I think I may be getting close to the max for my 3s speed runs! I have thought about 4s but I think I may call it quits at 3s as I don't have the money to rebuilding my car from nasty wrecks and I am not sure if I can find a suitable road close to my house. This journey on 3s has taught my a lot and I may just keep trying to see just how far I can go on 3s! Thanks so much for the information.

I think you need to try a 3800 or 3300 kv motor. The smaller the number the more top end but less torque they have. If you’re going this fast with 4300kv you’ll definitely get over 100 with a lower konstant voltage motor
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Жыл бұрын
This is actually a really common myth out there. A lower KV motor does not make more torque and will make less power. A lower KV motor will be slower, have less potential to make power, and make roughly the same amount of torque. If I used the same 3660 XTeam motor but say 3300 KV and run it at the same voltage, it will be considerably weaker/slower as the potential power output will be lower. Horse power takes into account torque and rpm (power over time) so if both motors make equal torque, the one that spins faster will make more HP thus have a faster top speed. If I want to go faster, I would put a 5,000+ kv motor in there as long as it doesn't get too hot during my speed runs. Also, you would need even taller gearing with a lower KV motor which creates an additional hurtle to overcome. Power - amps x voltage. At a given voltage, a higher kv motor will draw more amps thus make more power thus be faster. These video do a much better job of explaining things that I ever can.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5y2gZ2Eot2WopY kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5_Td6htjsR-eqs kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ6UeqeijJWMhqs
