Just hours after you posting this video, these flush cutters already jumped from $8+ to $9.99 to $13.99 (12-04-2024). And get this, I just added it my Amazon wish list and my list is showing it at $14.69.

Tsunoda is under-rated. I have 5 of the Tsunoda flush cutters, and they cannot be beat. I paid around $15 each on Amazon, which means I got 5 for the price of one Snap-On. And the gripper feature is great for getting that last bit of tightness from a zip tie. My favorite 8” needle nose are now Tsunoda, same with duckbills. They are slowly replacing tools from Knipex and Klein in my main tool bag.

I have about 8 pair of the stamped steel ones, so I have them in all my tool boxes. Those do look nice, thanks Doc

Fujiya makes the best flush cutters for zip ties because it has a piece of metal that catches the tail end of the zip tie from flying away. I think they call it the catch nipper.

Tsunoda also makes one called lead catcher, but the white thing they use to catch it comes off so much

1:58 That "space" is called a facet. As a rule of thumb: the bigger the facet, the more durable the edge. Flush or near flush cutters are only suited for soft material. 2:14 True flush cutters should also not "be smooth" meaning hitting edge against edge. There should be a small offset hitting edge against bevel. That way they don't dull as quickly and are easier to resharpen. In fact, unlike normal cutters with a large facet, flush cutters have to be resharpend with a fine, flat file occasionally. Personally, I like to use the small stamped electronics side cutters. They are cheap and convenient. But whenever possible for cable ties I use cable tie pliers. It's just way quicker. There are many bad ones though, and they can be exceedingly expensive.

13.99 at the moment. I'll add it to my wish list and wait for the price to drop again.

Picked up the Icon cutters on your previous info (and the HF cheapies too), now I'm looking at those Tsunoda cutters, having the ability to pull the zip tie with the same tool you're cutting with... that would be wonderful. So after 30 years of not knowing or having any flush cutters, I'll now have three within a couple months.

If you like your zip ties cut flush, might check out the various cable tie guns, like Panduit GTS-E. Tensions the tie and gives a perfect, clean cut.

The Gunpla community gets really obsessive about flush cutters. Try checking out some of their favorites like the Godhand brand, maybe?

The one you linked on Amazon looks to be a different design than what's in the video, did they change it?

so, none of these flush cutters will cut wire? that is what I really need to do with them. I got a couple pairs of cheap ones to be able to cut off things flush and we tried to cut the wire fasteners from plastic welding kit that stick out after you melt it into the plastic it just made hole in cutter blade. no idea what the wire is made of, but it really needs to be cut off flush, so you don't have razor sharp wire ends sticking from the plastic when you are done.
