Sold my coats 7060ex and bought this XKUSA / XINKONG 988/680 combo from ebay. This video is to review and demonstrate its function with low profile tires. Its similar to the mayflower unit, but the 988 is a bit different.

edit! so I recently attempted to install a 305/30/20 on an 11 1/2 in rim and discovered that it's just too darn wide for this machine. I would say the limit is about a 10-in wide rim, and maybe a 295 tire due to the fact that there's only about 24" from the table, to the lowest arm

@@ExoticCarDIY Not at all my friend. What you see at these so called 'Professional' tire shops is amateur. Your vids are great showing of how a contactless tire install is suppose to be. Not scraping the duck-head along the rim-edge, clamping from the outside. Great vids my man! Give yourself a bit more credit. Cheers!

I like the fact that your changing high end tires and wheels. I don't trust shops with my wheels. Long story short: had tire taken off my jag wheel, came back with a ding in paint and aluminum. No more!

I just watched a different video where the guy said the same thing about the bead buster plastic folding up and struggling. He purchased another cover off Amazon that was shaped and built a little stiffer. Cured his issue. Great video though 👍

I used the small hydraulic spreader type thing, to push the low profile tire down, so the bead would shift over to allow you to get the tires and take it off. I didn't get the extra arm. And I'm talking about the cheap blue one. Wish I had the bead blaster.

I've had better luck with a open airline straight to the tire valve compared to the beat blaster. Still, some tires are hard to seat the beat

@@ExoticCarDIY Most of my tires are low profile, so they will seat rather easy. Changed my brother in laws tire 2 days ago, and that gave me a little trouble. I finally got it with the steam core out and bounce it on the floor.

You need to use lube on all operations. Makes everything easier.

I've been interested in this machine for a little bit now and its nice to see someone using it with low profiles. What's the limiting factor when it comes to the wheel width? Their specs say max is 12.5". Is it the duck head that doesnt have enough room or the bead breaker part? Just seeing how hard it would be to make it accommodate a wider wheel. Thank you

Great video. I wish I could could see all parts of the machine connected and how the lines run and connect. I just took mine out of the box and it seems a bit daunting considering how poor the instructions are.

I have a 60 gallon two-stage compressor. However you really don't need a big compressor for the tire machine at all. The center shaft is a tank, so once it's full, it provides All the supply you need

I'm very close to ordering this set. You're video was a big help. I really think I want the assist arm. Most of what I'll do is bigger tires (jeeps and pickup trucks) but I know some low profile and car tires will be done also. This video was months ago. All still ok?

H1 rims lack the indention needed in the rim to get the tire the slack it needs to get off.

I'll get the actual measurement for you, but the seen pretty reasonable considering.

The balancer is 24x24, but you need probably about 24 inches of room to be able to get the tire on and off the right side. The base of the installer is 32x 17 however you likely need about 46 in wide for the width of the table and the bead breaker.

I think this was my first video, years before I started making other yt vids If you look at my 430 wheels video or even just the update, they're make more stable with a tripod. I even have a video coming out soon showing this machine installing 20“ 25 series tires in about 3 weeks

Can you air up the tire while it is still being gripped by those feet on the outside of the rim base? Don't those prevent the tire bead from seating?

No, if you grip it from the outside, you will have to remove it before filling

I noticed in the video you mention you cannot use the tire changer for your H1 tires. I was hoping to use this for regular tires and Humvee H1 tires. Are you saying this will not work for those kinds of tires?

@@JPMcCormick1 ya, if you look at a h1 rim under the tire, there are completely flat all the way across... Any other rim has a significant indentation that allows enough"slack"if you want to call it that, to get the tire off.

So what all happened to the Coats 7060EX? Would you go back to the coats? I am interested in buying the XK off ebay, just want to make sure it is a good consistent tire machine and balancer. As I plan on opening up a tire shop. I have used coats before and I hear they are the top of the line, but also a bit expensive for me at the moment. Great review and video, gives me confidence in that the item works perfectly.

Thanks man. Be sure to check out my other three videos on this tire machine. Don't get me wrong, I think the coats is a better machine all around. I guess the best way to describe it, is it's like comparing a super duty to a half ton truck. Yes the super duty is going to be stronger, and be able to do everything but you can still do a lot with a half ton truck. Does that make sense? Once I found out I was able to sell the coats and buy another tire machine with a balancer for less, I figured it was worth the risk. In a very happy with my decision. My machine does everything I want it to. And it's held up great for the last five or six years and probably about 120 tires. Now if I had a business that did 120 tires a day? Honestly I probably go with the coats.

Yes I have already gone through all the videos over the weekend. More and more excited to try this machine out. Hopefully we will be doing 120 tires per day! have you had to replace any major components? Hoses would probably be the first thing to go, but it is easy work. Thanks for the response, I am gonna give this one a try. Parts availability or replacement (in given case) is what I am a little worried about on the XK 988. But willing to take the risk. I guess all chinese machines are probably about the same quality, I have seen a lot of shops with chinese equipment and they seem to even favor those machines over the coats. @@ExoticCarDIY

Coates 7065X is a machine that surprised me. Lots of power. I do many tires on 450 and 550 trucks. Air powered table out powers electric by a huge margin

I definitely buy it again. I'm very happy with it. I made a one year update video, and in the video I show how I updated the bead breaker shovel to a yellow one, it works much better now. The balancer is adequate, but it can be annoying. It'll tell you add an ounce here and a quarter ounce here you'll spin it again and it'll tell you again add another quarter ounce in a different spot. The H1 wheels don't have the detent built into them that the tire needs to slide into for the bead to pass over the rim.

Hello! Do you have any experience with low profiles like 235/35 where you brake the bead in one place but when you go to the next point the one you just broke bounces bak? I find that this happens more on Chinese tires and where there is a hole in the tire. Is there any tips for this?

That can be annoying, but usually if you continue to work around, it will at least be loosened enough that you can push it down once you put it onto the machine. If not you could use a bead clamp tool when trying to break the bead, which are commonly used when doing low profiles

I fix this issue, it was the cheesy black plastic head that was on there. I swapped it out with a different one and haven't had this issue again

Too many flaws with the chinese one im a profession tyre fitter i prefer the coates you know the saying you get what you pay for most wheels that you are going to set for calibration you are better off to use the steel wheel

I agree that I would not use the Chinese machine in a commercial setting. I have like four other videos on this tire machine on my channel, for what I use it for, it is perfect. For commercial setting, it would likely be terrible LOL

So I install a set of 285/25/20 yesterday and I definitely experience the arm flex. However with the a metal duck head I still could install them with zero contact with the rim
