That was heart-wrenching. M-17 was terrified, and so was I. I'm so glad s/he made it back to the nest and is uninjured. M-18 was so concerned and helpful. Where were Mom and Dad? Nowhere to be seen or heard. I'm amazed they weren't there. Are they gone?

Both the parents were seen during the rehabber visits. Mom was perched up in the tree by M18 and Dad was down lower looking after M17. Eaglets at that age instinctually go into a bit of a frenzy when a parent comes to the nest because they are anticipating food. M17 seemed a little stressed so I think it was a good thing that the parents watched from above and M18 welcomed M17 home. Thank you so much for watching this season, Linda :)

I'm glad Mom and Dad are accounted for, and that everyone got back in the nest. It's reassuring to know they're all okay. Thank YOU for this captivating site. I've enjoyed watching these two grow up. Too sad when they leave though.

Ooooh!! What a scary ordeal for them both! Has there been any sign of Mom or Dad? Haven't noticed them lately. So happy M17 is safe and sound. Curious, do you know if they 'recognize' family members after they all leave the nest? TY So much!

Hi Shireen! Mom & Dad were seen during the rehabber visits. Mom was above with M18. Dad was looking after M17. M18 was seen flying above the nest too. That's a good question. From my ground observations at local nests, I think they recognize their family members. Biologists and researchers have differing opinions but I know one in particular that feels they recognize their off spring and some will even tolerate a visit from them later in their territory. Thank you for watching and commenting this season, Shireen!
