After two stages of less than perfect weather, we finally got the sunshine we'd been craving. Stage 3 saw us enter our first National Park, The Peak District. Leaving Ashbourne via The Tissington Trail we were soon passing through Thorpe on our way to Thorpe Cloud, our first peak of the journey. The views from the summit were incredible. Descending the peak took to the popular Dovedale and the famous stepping stones. We'd be along the Dove river for the majority of the day, passing through Milldale, Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale, with lots to explore along the way. Arriving at Hartington, it was time for refreshments before a section of mainly road and track walking brought us to the foot of Chrome Hill. The incredibly steep climb was over quickly and we were greeted with stunning views in every direction. All that was left to do now was cross the high moorland before descending into Buxton. A tough 25 miles in the heat but we are now 75 miles into our journey and going strong.
