How do you reach the top bolt on the starter? Some kind of extension?

That's not the crank position sensor, the crank position sensor is located on the front of the motor right by the crank gear. What is depicted here is a knock sensor. I replaced my crank position sensor because it was throwing off my torque converter causing it to lock and unlock

I can assure you that's the cps. If it's not Napa and myself have a serious problem. But what are the odds I go in and buy a cps for my truck and it pops right in fixing my problems and I put the wrong sensor in the wrong spot? Slim to none.

Incorrect, that is the Crank position sensor. It reads a tone ring bolted onto the crankshaft. The sensor on the rear of the timing cover is a Camshaft position sensor. Good try hotshot

@@bentrimble2167 the crank sensor on the 2nd gens are behind the starter till 01 then they got rid of the crank sensor and went to just the cam sensor which is between the VP and block. 03 is when they put the crank sensor on the front of the motor with a tone ring. Sorry but I know I have a 2nd and 3rd gen and have worked on both of them 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Hard starts and loss of tachometer.

Were the hard starts intermittent or happening all the time? Having trouble getting my 99 5.9L to restart. Thanks if you see this..
