Such a great video. Thank you, Leila! Here are my notes: - Discretionary effort. If I give it, I’ll get it in return. Don’t wait to see if they are worth it, give it first. - People are trainable. Most people can learn most things. Are you a good teacher/mentor? Can you give good feedback, not in a punishing but encouraging way? - Invest in people as if they’ll never leave but know, even hope and be happy when they do. Investing into someone’s life being better is a good thing. Relationships can last even past them working for you. - Don’t tell them what to do, inspire them by who you are, as a character. Not only in business but in life in general. What you do sets the standard for the team.

Then comes the product & business skills. Thank you Leila. You're an actual beauty with brains & a great human being. Keep inspiring & educating people. Lots of Love from India.

I very rarely comment on videos. This may be one of the best and most tactically practical videos I have heard in a very long time. There is something timeless about excellent advice where you connect with it and feel certain feelings - while also feeling like you are hearing things you've always known. It's a weird combination of the ideas being true and almost obvious - but at the same time revolutionary in the sense that people who act this way are truly rare - and what a relief to know that humans like this exist. Thank you Leila for sharing what you know, and for doing the work to make it practical and easy to understand. This is great info for business, but also for life in general. This is how great leaders function. Again, thank you!

Loved this Leila. Discretionary effort, It is like random acts of kindness. When I lead teams in the submarine force it was the discretionary efforts... hands down which gained the loyalty from my team. Listening to your ethos, growth, and desires are admirable. You rock. "Knowing the goal of every student..." Getting the 'cascading" or alignment with their goals and the companies goals it is so much easier to get real engagement and by-in. How rewarding. I miss teams. So, I have decided to develop a project so BIG it will take a team. Look forwarded to seeing you with a potential collaborative goal one day.

5:00 😞😒 This is me right now, 90 days into my new job. I care just enough to give my actual 50% as "my 100%" and do the bare minimum now. I came in so passionate and excited to not only learn and perform well, but also to use my BFA in Visual Communication (graphic design) to elevate the marketing, which I was initially praised for until all of a sudden the last few weeks, where I've been ignored, not responded to, and not included. So you know what? Instead of getting TOO in my butthurt feelings about feeling iced out and impulsively quitting, I'm giving myself a year before looking for another job. The behaviors of others not caring to simply communicate to me directly that I'm no longer needed is why I just don't care anymore.
