We tell the #verycoolgang what fact 99% of people don't know about Milwaukee, DeWALT, and Makita tools in this video. Tool users aren't willing to accept the facts of the situation because of brand loyalty but we give you the straight up truth about these tool companies. I was a buyer for a large hardware/houseware distributor. This will be shocking to some, these are all made in the same factory. I would go on factory tours and I would see one line making DeWalt and look over to the other line and see Makita tools being built.

I am so sick of the battery platform headaches. You can't choose tools that do the best job because you have to worry about the batteries. I have Dewalt, Makita and Milwaukee. Of course everyone has their own battery platform and chargers. Why can't I have one Makita charger to cover all the tools? Why can't I inter swap batteries. I feel you Vince. It's called greed. Companies have figured out the printer model (by the toner or ink and get a free printer). Now it's by the batteries and get a free tool

Totally agree man. I bought into the 18v system for makita when I started buying tools for my DIY and hobbies. A few months later they announced 40v, and I had already invested into batteries and tool. So now, even though a 40v would be better for me, I continue to buy 18v/36v tools because I don't want to run 2 systems, and I don't want to replace tools that I bought in the past 2 years!

same. i'm on the makita platform too. while i do love my tools, and they've never let me down, i'm disappointed at lack of backwards compatibility with their XGT batteries. and they're also lacking in the storage and accessories department, compared to milwaukee. it just seems like milwaukee is constantly expanding their packout line, offering new tools, and their tools are pretty good quality too. idk, maybe makita focuses more on tool durability and refinement, and less on other stuff, but i'd be nice to see them innovate faster and offer a more expansive platform.

Thanks Vince! I was already aware of the DeWalt power station and the MX inverter. I have been thoroughly disappointed in the fact that Milwaukee has not released an inverter other than the M18 top off which is only 175 Watts so that's not very good and won't power much at all and the MX inverter is just ridiculously expensive to get into because there's nothing else in that lineup that I would want or need. I'm glad that somebody is finally asking all of the questions that I've had for a while because nobody listens to me when I ask those questions

Just buy the dewalt power station and a bunch of Milwaukee to dewalt battery adaptors and run it with m18 battery's if your in the m18 platform if you don't want to get into the mxfuel system

The reason why Makita is making you buy a whole new platform is because these xgt tools have more power, run cooler, quieter and smoother, twice the run time and just new technology literally every which way you slice it. That's something that the existing tools from Milwaukee and DeWalt can't even come close to doing because they just get louder, heavier and more violent with the more gigantic the battery you put on those old tools and they still can barely compete w a 4.0ah. If you use your tools every single day for real world applications not just testing you will see the new XGT Makita platform is by far the superior. PS food for thought here is DeWalt and Milwaukee have both made you change battery platforms twice already where Makita's LXT line up is actually the only power tool that you can use batteries from 2005 still in new lxt tools in 2021. I've been buying and using cordless power tools for a very very long time Vince and it's like you forgot all about Milwaukee V18 before M18 Back in 2006 and also DeWalt has the XRP lithium ion stick batteries, then 18v than 20v ect. Makita has been the same old same from 2005 and it still works in LXT and will continue to work with those 280+ tools to date. Now everyone is complaining that Makita is finally updating after 23 years when they can't remember the other companies changing platforms at all and forcing us to upgrade multiple times already in the past. Flexvolt has been around since 2016 so realistically not very long and in that time they've already discontinued the 18v and now 20v 🤦‍♂️.

I love your vids man I'm not in the construction industry I'm a diesel mechanic but I use lxt 18v Makita in combination with 14.4 snap on gear so love too see what else is out there.. lots of mechanics going the Milwaukee route because of there innovative automotive tools.. I started 12 years ago with a Makita drill and still going strong and that's why Iv stuck with them but Makita really dropped the ball on this one for me.. I'm now so invested in the lxt line and extremely happy with it but the compatibility between lxt and xgt is such a shame

I've been waiting for a brushless jigsaw forever. Craftsman V20 Brushless tools are great, but the brushed tools suck monkey balls. I broke down and bought a Milwaukee router (cordless) and jigsaw, so I'm probably done buying Craftsman now. It's a shame, I have tons of tools and 4 9amp batteries, so I've spent a lot on money on Craftsman, but I cant keep waiting forever

(Excellent description, BTW) I began upgrading to Milwaukee last year, but used Craftsman to fill in some of the gaps for items that either didn’t get used as much or that were way out of my price range. They are good tools and might last, but only if you don’t push them too hard, which, from time to time we are all bound to do. After my oscillating tool crapped out 2x...I thought that it might be a sign to go all the way. With the help of this channel and a handful of others, I have scored some amazing deals and have really rounded out my set. I would still love to see Craftsman step up and innovate, but unless Porter Cable had a secret set of plans for a bunch of advanced brushless offerings (since it seems very much like the large launch of the Craftsman line was mainly a repainting and rebranding of the Porter Cable line) I don’t think it’s going to be happening as fast as we’d like to see it.

Dewalt needs a flexvolt auger, and chop saw. I would love to see these tools along with making it like makita where you can run multiple batteries. Preferably run with a 2 battery option and a 4 battery option.

I use Makita at work and have Dewalt at home. Just bought the Dewalt brushless circ saw a while back. I love the larger flex volt battery and the 6amp charger. When I use up my little batteries, I just grab the flex volt and I know that I will have the amount of power I need. But I did notice that the smaller voltage batteries don't work with the circ saw.

I agree with you, Vince. DeWalt was first out the gate with the 120 volt Flexvolt miter saw (which I love)...but years later no 120 volt Flexvolt table saw despite Metabo HPT doing it at 36v. Ordered a cordless 36v Metabo HPT 1/2 inch router...but DeWalt had years ahead of them to develop their own Flexvolt version and were asleep at the switch. I own and love many Milwaukee 18v tools. Their competitiveness is both a signal of how good they have been at innovating their battery and motor technology and a signal of how bad their competitors with higher voltage capabilities have been at leveraging that to their advantage.

Junk, you obviously have not owned Dewalt. We have Milwaukee and Dewalt at work, the Milwaukee tools last about 2 years. The Dewalt 20 volt go and go. For 1 Dewalt battery in the 20 volt it takes 2 18s of Milwaukee to do the same job.

@@ddorn04 Milwaukee has been great to me. I have some of the 1st gen m18 2.0ah batteries still going strong many years later. I've had 2 tools that had to go in for (free)service and were promptly repaired and returned. One was the 1st gen oscillating saw that a rookie ran till it smoked. The other was a m18 Surge that was left out in the rain and the trigger would randomly stop working. Both repaired for free.

I have used Dewalt cordless tools for a long time for the same reasons you mentioned. The 20 volt line was also backwards with the old nicads using an adapter. I bought the power station. Now there is no need to have cordless everything a mostly stationary tool like a tablesaw or mitersaw can run all day with the power station. I feel the power station makes it so the only tools that need to be cordless are the most portable tools.

Been a Makita Guy for the last 15 years happy Makita came out with the 40 volt was upset at first and it wasn't backwards compatible but I have broken a few yellow tabs off my 18-volt batteries and glad Makita changed to different waiting for the 40 80 volt platform to drop more tools and I'm moving on to the 40 80 volt

I’ve got an older (2001 ish) Dewalt drill driver I used up until last year when one of the batteries finally decided to stop. You can even use the converter kit to use the new batteries with it. Plenty of life left and it’s had more hot suppers than I can count.

I was forced to buy Ryobi battery pack system ...because I called Dewalt and they refused to make battery augurs so I had to buy Ryobi large and small augers and a variety of batteries because DeWalt refused To jump into that line of tool... I’m personally a Yellow and Black, Rebel. As a 20 year + construction worker, running my own business for the past 6 years. Dewalt is my go to just because I had such great experience with them. All tool brands have something they bring to the table. But when FlexVolt came out, I got the batteries, I got the 60v chainsaw and skill saw, and the 120v 12” miter saw, and I have been extremely impressed with them, and very happy with my continued investment in Dewalt. My hope is what you say happens that they keep everything interchangeable and step up to bigger things. I personally think they will and I strongly believe they will keep getting better!

I've been dewalt all the way. I spend way more money on tools than I need to, but they're grownup toys to me. Plus I like being able to do projects on my own, and as an electrician I preferred dewalts impact, and then I was just stuck on the platform and stayed with them when I bought my first battery powered portable band saw. It was ok, but so much bulkier than Milwaukee. They finally released their atomic portaband,, which I promptly snagged. But they've been starting to be more of a pain in the A$$ with their warranty. I had a service center deny me my leaf blower because it was past the 1 year and into the 2nd year of its 3 year, and that was the final straw. I recently just invested in the dewalt battery nail guns, and after this and, frankly, after realizing they are STILL using the dusty flywheel design, I went with Milwaukee and I love it, and my tool people tell me that Milwaukee is night and day better than dewalt for warranty. Makita had a great chance to offer us some dual voltage batteries. They could have developed batteries similar to Metabo HPT's Multi-Volt (18V/36V), but they totally blew their chance. They'll never be able to turn around and make the change, at least not without blowing a huge wad of money.

I needed a concrete saw for inside work so I purchased the 9 inch DeWalt flex volt kit with two 9 amp hour batteries - the Milwaukee was not available that month. I then added the cordless table saw and mud mixer because I already had 2 flex volt batteries. I also own M18 and M12 platformed tools. The DeWalt flex volt is a great platform that needs more tools. I didn’t know that DeWalt made the inverter. I looked at the Milwaukee but thought it was overkill and too much money for the short duration use of a 120 volt tool.

I’m close to buying into one of these brands, but I wasn’t sure which one to go with. I do understand that DeWalt appears to be lagging behind with innovation, but I really like their backwards compatibility, so I can see me swaying to them (I only currently have a Makita LXT combi drill). As they’re owned by Stanley Black and Decker, perhaps they have to jump through hoops to get the designs from the R&D room and into the customers hands; too much red tape, perhaps? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyway, it was an interesting video and I liked your enthusiasm.

Seems that's the way with fast moving technology. Always one brand has a feature or spec that you want but not on the other, and vice versa. Tvs, stereos, cars, flashlights, cell phones, power tools ect. Built in feature envy to buy the next new thing.

I originally bought it for my grinder, but have since bought all the other tools with the exception of the mitre saw. You are correct Vince! I am betting that Makita will be making an adapter for the 36V X2 line to allow the 40V Max (36 volt nominal) batteries to be used. Most likely when they roll out packs 8Ah or larger. As far as power invertors go, get the "solar power generators" in 1,000 watt hour to 5,000 watt hour packs made from LiFePO4 cels--they last around 2,000 cycles and Bluetti makes the 5,000 watt hour model that you can gang two of them together with a breaker box for 110/220V to power your house. LiMn cells are fine for portable tools but for transportable power packs, LiFePO4 is great for power generation, cars, RVs, boats etc. as it has far superior cycle life, much safer and lasts 10 to 20 years of constant use. Maybe Stanley has ignored DeWalt because they bought Craftsmen? For my lighter duty needs, my Makita 18V and 36V X2 works great but it would be cool if Maskita rolled out 40V 8 to 12 Ah packs with an adapter for 36V X2--but I won't hold my breath. Rant on!

I bought 3 Hitachi 14.5v drills with 3 batts(non working) for 18 pounds sterling on local auction site. The batts did ccharge on my V2 balance charger from Bangwood in the States but did not last. I have 18/20 v bats from Parkside, Workzone, and 18/36v batts from Ferrex. I made wooden adaptors to be able to fit all these batts to the Hitachi drills and they all work like a charm, used them for many hours each without harming the drills. Just goes to show that with a little experimentation wonders can be achieved SSA

Unless you buy a 60v flexvolt specific tool, ie. my circ saw or recip saw. They can only take flexvolt batteries. Not a big deal since I can use those same batteries on my 20v tools but just have to make sure I have charged 60v batts for the 60v tools when the time comes

40v will be the new 18v, more efficient, new battery tech (21700 cells finally for makita), more power, more tools will come. it’s up to the consumer if they will keep making 18v or not but I think it will slowly ween its way out and other big companies will start going 36/40v

@@travisjazzbo3490 you do realize the 2.5 amp 40v battery is literally the same size as all the 18v batteries right ? 😂 the tools are literally the same size but 40v obviously you can get more power especially with 21700 cell batteries that 18v line will never provide. As tech advances 12v gets stronger and 40v tools get smaller it puts 18v in a weird spot. Why go 18v when you can get all the same tools more efficient in 40v ????

i ran dewalt cordless stuff for the past 10 years as a mechanic because its been the only brand beside their shared company mac tools, that fits one battery for all small to large tools with no problem, better than buying snap on and matco together.

If you know a bit about Lithium style cells you will understand why Dewalt has problems making bigger equipment on their FlexVolt batteries. It's for that same reason that Makita went to 40V with no backwards compatibility, although I do think for smaller tools they could have done their own flexvolt to fix some compatibility issues, as an temporary bandaid.

Similar to the reason kobalts 80v line of lawn equipment has taken a backseat to the 40v line. I own and prefer the 80v line, but the 80v batteries,tools and accessories are only available online now.

Another Great one Vince👍👍👍 Im definitely picking up on what your subtly hinting at but not sure if Dewalt will pick up on it🤣 I personally wonder if it has to do with Dewalts customer base. I mean a lot of Dewalt peeps are professionals with a thrifty mind set I feel. Wonder if Dewalt fears being able to get the margins needed to succeed at some of the higher cost equipment and tools. That would be my guess anyway. As a Dewalt guy Ill pay Dewalt prices and get the good tools although they might not be the best because I just cant justify to outfitting myself with Makita or Milwaukee as there wouldnt be much left to live on after shelling out for blue or red. No shade on those that can afford the top of the line as there are some awesome tools out there from Makita and Milwuakee for sure. But for many the cost of outfitting in those brands is just not feasible. And I feel thats where Dewalt hits the sweet spot for many.

As you buy into Makita 40v system, keep running your 18v. Your total switch will come when you need to replace or upgrade equipment, then buy the replacements in XGT platform.

Milwaukee's most recent releases (other than packout) seem like they've been aimed at plumbing & mechanical contractors with larger, more expensive tools traditionally purchased by the company rather than the mechanics themselves. Ferguson put out a Milwaukee flyer recently and I bought two t-shirts, lol

I like black and yellow. Plus there is a service center in my city here in Canada. Only had to replace a spring and ball bearing for my DCF885 for less than $2.00.

I think that Dewalt R&D is putting all of their effort into the new Powershift platform, which looks compatible with the flexvolt system. I expect that the competition is going to be blown away.

As a welder i was happy when i saw the table saw and miter saw on the flexvolt ...i thought ok cool we are gonna get the 14" cjop saw ...maybe. A drill press...maybe a table top band saw.... Ya know a few more on the go metal working tools .... Oh the disaapointment
