Thanks Fr Dave for such an invigorating aspect on current events. I attempt to stay informed but only watch limited news because it's so biased. I'll anxiously await your next post hopefully they'll be frequent during Lenten season. I'll ask the Lord to assist me in removing whatever is unnecessary in my life during Lent.

Thank you Father Dave for your Lent backyard talk! Bluebird day, Cragley getting some sun, and your encouragement to "declutter" our lives and give more of us either in volunteering or donations to others was perfect! I am not able to get ashes today, but this seemed more meaningful. In turn I am sending love to my children as baked good care packages with them trying to figure out adulthood one day at a time out of college, while in college, and Lindty our black lab is giving us strength raising the last of 4 who is 14. Your right, the pets in our lives ground us when we are caught up in drama! Thanks again!

When you asked, “do you think craigley has any worries?” Many times when I’m stressed about something-anything-I sit on my couch and my dog, Howie jumps up and sits on my lap and looks at me like “hey this is pretty great, me, you and you petting my back.” I feel like God is telling me “I need you to come to and count on me like Howie does on you.” We can learn a lot from our pets.❤

Great message today! Totally agree. Watching the news all day is unhealthy psychologically. I think we should stay up on current events, but we shouldn't be obsessed with them. We need to live our lives in faith knowing God will work all things for the good. The best thing we can do is pray about it and give it to God! Constantly being anxious about things we do not have control over is not productive. People of faith are under attack from the world...no doubt about it, but it's been this way forever. This balloon issue is concerning. Our government is keeping us in the dark leaving us to speculate. They are hiding things from us creating even more distrust. Strange things are afoot for sure. Thank God for priests like you speaking from the heart guiding us to Jesus. God can heal us by removal! Amen!

HI Fr Dave and Craigly, I'm Paul from St Louis, 54, close once to be a Canon lawyer but losing kidney prevented that journey...love what you said. My older brother passed 5/12/22, was 58, barriatric bedridden I cared for him, we loved watching your masses together, and our 11 year old caleco, Louie Brock sent Craigly 100 bucks for treats, your one time donation during Christmas. My brothers name was Jimmy die hard Cowboys fan sorry lol! When I told our Archbishop Carleson years back how Roger Staubach completed first Hail Mary pass, Abp gave me 500 years in purgatory, he's from LaCrosse, Wisconsin haha! Your missle theory is interesting! When balloon reached Montana, where US Nuclear Silos are in my Homestate, Missouri, Chinese balloon also flew over Whitehead Air Force Base, Only Home of Stealths, sadly lucky Chinese flying undetected balloon over Montana could had carried a weapon of mass destruction or pulse weapon that knocks out US Electricity because China announced yesterday they are sending lethal aid to Russia against Ukraine and if they take over Taiwan they could send us more balloons that supposedly were undetected between Alaska and Montana. And You're right, Biden blew those hobbyist balloons up to show people he could. I'm sure Generals and Biden embarrassed 4 balloons detected. Funny,,North Illinois hobbyist posted on Twitter tracking his 12 buck balloon over Alaska at same time balloon got struck by 400,000 buck missle extra took 2, first missle missed. So Biden spent 800,000 to blow up 12 buck weather balloon from North Illinois Hobby Lobby! Prayers too for LA bishop slain, Amen.

Thank you for your video and reflection on today's Gospel. That quote of Jesus' in the last sentence made me think about what Jesus wants us to avoid in the "city" and what can I do without from the "city". I will take your advice and pray about it and work towards that for Lent this year as well as not have the main stream media's news guide me for the day. We are so blessed with having the Word of God be our guide and each day's Mass readings gives us exactly what we need to get us through. God bless!

"Our world no longer hears God because it is constantly speaking, at a devastating speed and volume, in order to say nothing...Postmodernity is an ongoing offense and aggression against the divine silence. From morning to evening, from evening to morning, silence no longer has any place at all; the noise tries to prevent God himself from speaking. In this hell of noise, man disintegrates and is lost; he is broken up into countless worries, fantasies, and fears. In order to get out of these depressing tunnels, he desperately awaits noise so that it will bring him a few consolations. Noise is a deceptive, addictive, and false tranquilizer. The tragedy of our world is never better summed up than in the fury of senseless noise that stubbornly hates silence. This age detests the things that silence brings us to: encounter, wonder, and kneeling before God." --- Robert Cardinal Sarah "The Power of Silence"

Father, could you answer a question about this gospel. What is the significance of Jesus touching man's eyes twice for full restoration? I've been doing a little mass scripture prayer group on Twitter and I opened discussion for this. I was wondering correlation man's hand in Jesus' represent baptism then second touch, full confirmation
@23RO Жыл бұрын
I heard that shooting it with bullets would not bring it down fast enough. There would have to be multiple passes. Also, bullets will contiue to travel for miles and would eventually land in an uncontrolled zone, thus endangering life and property. The missle explodes and falls immediately in a predictable area.

I know few people are going to see this, bur I only caught this video on Ash Wednesday. I have been studying Earth`s natural history and one thing that you will learn is that mass extinctions of species occur, infrequently, but periodically. They are horrible occurances if one considers what died out, but they also open the stage for great new diversities of creatures from those that survive, and biodiversity and complexity has only increased over time. God knows what He is about and no sacrifice made will be wasted. God prunes the Tree of Life, let`s allow Him to prune the trees of our lives. We can only bear greater fruit for it. Also it can be somewhat of a spur to surrender what the Lord is asking of you if one considers that God choose you over millions of irrational species, their extinctions are in part what opened the way for the eventual arrival of humans. Not just us there is alot more going on, but we can trace how evolutionarily things lead up to us in some ways that we can see how it otherwise likely would not. This will not prove to your atheist relative that God must exist because they can just counter that we might just die out one day. We do not expect that, but for an empirical materialist, that is perfectly possible. What I am saying is, is that this is just for spiritual reflection, not apologetics.

The "balloon" was 200 ft tall according to what the military reported to Congress, so not sure what a few bullets would do. Sure don't watch news all day but our society is based on people being informed.
@mikelezan1023 Жыл бұрын
I understand your point about the importance of being informed in our society, but I want to emphasize the distinction between being informed and being misinformed. While it's true that our society is based on having access to accurate and reliable information, it's equally true that being misinformed can be just as damaging, if not more so, than being uninformed. In today's world, where misinformation and disinformation are rampant, it's more important than ever to be discerning consumers of information. This means taking the time to fact-check what we read, hear, and watch, and not relying solely on a single news source or social media platform for our information. By staying vigilant and seeking out credible sources, we can ensure that we are truly informed and not falling prey to the many falsehoods that circulate in our information ecosystem. And by doing so, we can help to promote a more informed, engaged, and resilient society, one that is based on a shared commitment to truth and accuracy.

Father Dave I loved to listen to you but I strongly disagree with you. Like the priesthood and many other callings that serve the world, I highly respect professional and I reiterate “professional” journalists . I would caution anyone to refrain from spreading conspiracy theories. As a Catholic I am very proud of those Catholic leaders and Catholic journalists and also the Vatican news who are dedicated leaders who discry lies and promote Justice. We need to be vigilant at a time of spreading fascism and totalitarianism. Conspiracy theories need to be removed. I agree that we need to remove ourselves but I am sad to see people so removed from world affairs that they don’t know the suffering in the world and the leaders who are trying to be peacemakers and to help those who are poor. Please don’t lump all journalists into the “lying media” who are promulgating falsity for their own ends. Gos Bless you and thank you . With respect, JoAnne

Also I wish we would support world leaders who support democracy over totalitarianism and fascism .

Good Nuance here JoAnne. Not all journalism is bad. . . and not all of it is your friend
@judyjacobs7028 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for reminding us that Jesus can heal us by removal. I spent 33 years working for a small city daily newspaper after getting a degree in reporting and editing at the University of Florida and I know our family-owned paper was strong on ethics and strived to be balanced. “The Media” reports the news and reports what officials tell them about events. Obviously there can be great bias in reporting and what is covered if the organization has a liberal or conservative slant. The real truth eventually comes out. But you’re correct in advising us not to marinate in the news all day. Like anything in life, over-indulgence is unhealthy. Thank you for your thought-provoking and mind-bending homilies. I love your spirit, Fr.Dave. Still, I don’t want to hang my head in shame for choosing a life career in journalism and I think it’s wrong to label the majority of news gatherers as the lying media. (Too many folks similarly label all Catholic priests or Catholic parishioners as evil thanks to the past sins of priests, bishops and other religious). God bless you, Fr. Dave. I want you to know I have dear friends who supposedly should be my political enemies. I always pray for Jesus’s forgiveness if my political opinions or judgments are wrong.
@darlatomac5693 Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I agree with too much news is bad for you, but I will say that this felt a little conspiracy driven as well 🤔 Careful, Father Dave. You and Aaron Rodgers could be a lot more alike than you’d like to think.
