Seeing you have a magnet to catch small parts / shavings.. an idea that worked for me was putting the magnet inside a sandwich bag so after I retrieved the parts I could remove the sandwich bag, slowly turning it inside out, taking all the shavings with it, exposing a clean magnet.. assuming you are working with steel of course. Great video as always!

I love watching the entire video. With out the details, I would be asking for more detail. I grew up using a lot of the tools and unfortunately threw away many of the pad locks, tools, etc that this man restores. I love to see him develop some of the initial techniques to finish the products BUT I also understand some of the original techniques of finishing are no longer legal, safe or available.

You should have a look at Marty's Matchbox Makeovers. Those standoffs, instead of hitting them..... he uses a modified nail in a drill press to reform the ends of axles, very neat and looks original much of the time. Might be useful.
