It's amazing to me how many completely beaten to crap 200k+ Hondas there are out there, and they still work... I've always thought that if someone would just take care of one, they were basically immortal. A million miles is the next best thing.

I agree. FWIW, I've thought about putting a personalized tag IMMORTL on this car.

This is incredible man! You’ve taken very good care of your accord and it shows now that it’s gone this far! Props to Honda for making an amazing car. You’re giving me hope to keep driving my 300k mile TL

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it. It's been an amazing car. I've tried to document everything for the last few years. Congrats on 300k on your TL. I'm glad you found my channel. Do you watch Tyson Hugie's videos? He has an awesome Acura and Honda collection with a high mile Legend.

There have been a few times I've had to put a lot of work into it - the clutch and transmission swap, also rebuilt the suspension a few times, but it's still in overall really good shape inside and out. I still like driving it.

Those model year Accord's were so much better made, especially the V6 engine. The new Accords are a joke, getting head gasket failures by 80k to 100k miles. Especially the 1.5L Turbo model, the 2.0's seem to be less problematic

"What they recommend, either seven years or 100,000 miles, mine's been the mileage..." might be the most stealth high-mileage mic drop of all time. Great walk around tour!! To echo someone else in the comments, I'm also shocked that starter motor is still holding on. Have you ever had to clean out the EGR system? The EGR valve in my 2003 got all gummed up and caused all kinds of wacky behavior. Onward, good sir! A million miles awaits!!

Thanks! This car was made before Honda transitioned to the Maintenance Minder that tells you when to do stuff. It's supposed to be 7yrs or 105k, whichever comes first. If I said 100k in the video, that was a slip up on my part. I did have to replace the EGR valve once long ago. Haven't had any other problems with it since.

What makes you think that the miles will freeze and not roll over 0? Also what will a new instrument cluster do? Aren’t the miles stores in the ECU and not inside the cluster?
@txaccord
@txaccord Жыл бұрын
There's a guy in NC who hit a million in a green 6tu gen Accord sedan. His digital odometer stuck at all 9s. I expect mine to behave the same. New instrument cluster will start at zero. Hondas store the mileage in the cluster and not the ECU.
@zfunk9
@zfunk9 Жыл бұрын
Wow, interesting. So is it really that easy for Honda owners to roll back the mileage on their cars? Just swap in a low mileage cluster into a high mileage Honda? ….also wait, I though you had the highest mileage Accord??
@txaccord
@txaccord Жыл бұрын
@@zfunk9 ours is the highest mileage 7th gen Accord and the highest mileage V6 Honda. The other Hondas to hit a million have all been 4cyls. I've tried to keep good documentation of my journey, both on paper as well as what I've posted online. The shop I sometimes use has worked on the car since before it had 200k.

How long have you been running on 5 cylinders? I have a Toyota sienna with a burnt valve that I'm trying to decide what to do with. Thanks
@txaccord
@txaccord Жыл бұрын
It happened around 920k. Gas mileage suffered a lot. It's getting around 20 mpg hwy when it used to get 28. It has acceleration on par with a fully loaded semi driving into a headwind. And finally, above 95F outside air temp, it runs hotter than normal. The cooling system just gets maxed out and can't keep up. I never had that problem until this cylinder issue. Good luck with yours. I only lived with my situation so I could get the engine to reach a million miles. Otherwise I would've dealt with the problem after it happened.
