These were Vision wheels from Discount Tire. I tried looking at emails to find the model #, but I couldn't find a receipt for these. They were from 2020. A lot of aftermarket wheels change after a couple of years and it's difficult to find replacements if you break a rim. I bought 5 wheels and tires this time so I'd have a full size spare (extra matching rim if one of mine gets bent). Good luck with your car. Glad you got it back.

I think I’ve commented before that the radio block on my 2003 EX V6 coupe died, but fortunately I was still within the warranty period. Looks like a pretty straightforward replacement. Any issues with the plastic trim pieces breaking after 21+ years of use?
@txaccord
@txaccord Ай бұрын
It was pretty easy. No issues with the trim pieces. There's a big hook looking Honda tool to get that upper dash cover loose, but the interior trim tool works fine.

Glad you've been able to hold onto the stock radio all this time and only have LED lighting fail, those Panasonic built EX units with the black display really lasted forever, typically the audio doesn't fail on it like the base trim single CD Alpine built unit which will fail at some point.
@txaccord
@txaccord Ай бұрын
My original block problems were the flickering LCD screen and loss of backlighting. This one was just the backlighting. Otherwise the radio still works fine.

Glad this will help you. It's a really easy and affordable fix. I'm a guy who used to replace the radio with an aftermarket radio in all of my cars. Cars like this have other functions like HVAC and steering wheel controls and it makes it difficult to find a good unit that will work and not lose function over the stock radio. I have SiriusXM, aftermarket speakers, and a powered sub. I have no complaints with this stock head unit. I don't care about Bluetooth or maps. 1,039,100 today I plan to do another update video at 1,050,000. Thanks for following along and commenting!

Road Huggers are great tires, they're apparently made under contract by Kumho and/or Nitto, depending on the model tire. Both very reputable brands. I don't park my car in a garage and they've been exposed to the Arizona sun for the last 8 years with no apparent sun damage (cracking, checking, etc) I can't say that for previous brand tires, including Michelin's on my truck. I hate to replace them as I don't do a whole lot of driving but I have some highway driving to do coming up and since it's already a year past the safety period, I guess I should. I've been so happy with them that I'm probably going to pay the extra for the Road Huggers.

I’m surprise they still sell this old design of the LAair series. I don’t care what anyone says. And other led lighting enthusiasts agrees. Putting the right type of two sided led bulbs with automotive oem grade led chips on projector or reflector is a great upgrade. U will not blind others as long as we get that right ones. Look at that reflector headlights. That still got a nice colt off beam pattern. No glare above the cutoff. Me and my family are running with Lasfit and we couldn’t be happier. It’s must buy and it’s our most go to as well. Halogens are not bright enough and not safe enough.

Manual transmission? What do you do for maintenance?
@txaccord
@txaccord 2 ай бұрын
Yes, manual transmission. I've become a fan of using Redline Oil. I change the manual transmission fluid around every 100k miles. I wasn't good about doing that with my original transmission and had to replace it at 320k. Learned my lesson. The replacement transmission was out of a wrecked Accord. That transmission now has almost 800k on it and is doing fine just by keeping up with the fluid changes. An automatic transmission would require more frequent fluid changes, but the MT does not.

Very cool walkthrough video for the trim replacement! The dealer where I ordered the run trim for my 2012 did the install for no labor as an apology for the order taking so long… glad I didn’t have to muck around with that process (anytime I handle decade-old Honda trim, I get nervous). You did a fantastic job with that install, though. Two random questions - what brand are you door speakers? And is the door weather stripping original?
@txaccord

Thank you. This wasn't a bad job, but it's really hot to be doing projects in the garage right now. I'm using Polk Audio 6.5" speakers. I replaced the driver's door wx stripping with a better seal from a fellow DA user's parts car.

How frequently did you change transmission fluid? Brake fluid? Power steering fluid? Engine Oil?
@txaccord
@txaccord 3 ай бұрын
Manual transmission - I changed the fluid about every 100k. Brake fluid - I would just bleed some fluid when I changed the brakes. Never completely changed it. PS fluid would get replaced when I changed PS pumps and occasionally I'd drain the reservoir and replace the fluid if it looked dirty. Engine oil - I mostly did 15k mile intervals on Mobil 1 5w-20. On my new engine, I'm running Mobil 1 5w-20 around 6-7k intervals.

Those weathertech mats say they don't fit manual transmission cars... What is your experience with them? In high school I had a 2004 v6 that had all weather Ohio state mats, it wouldn't start due to the clutch pedal not being able to be pushed down enough (ended up replacing the starter without knowing this was the issue)
@txaccord
@txaccord 4 ай бұрын
I used weather tech part 440601 Thats the number for just the front two. They fit my car fine. I haven't had a problem with them besides right after I installed the new carpet, it was pushing the mat up where it caught the clutch pedal when I let out on the clutch. That only lasted for an hour. After that, the carpet settled and the mat has been fine.

I was too embarrassed by it to get close. I bought anodized blue with a silver base coat. The paint fish eyed. I tried to paint back over the blue with the base coat. It still didn't cover the bad spots. I bought some black wrinkle paint last night. Supposed to be thick paint. I'll try that next. This is a J35 intake made of magnesium. The J30 intake is aluminum. Not sure if that made a difference for painting. Wish I would've left it alone, but hopefully the wrinkle paint will cover it up.
