You sir, are one of the leaders in the current world of horsepower. You are proving to millions of people that you can take a dirt cheap truck engine, slap a turbo on it, and make 900+RWHP on 90% stock parts. rompn4x I've done it several times. problem is a lot of tards building them soo... anyways a good tune avoid knock and they hold up pretty good. plus super cheap and easy too build. I've made 550 of stock bottom end for a long time. I wish they had slightly strong rods from the factory though that's what I usually break.

Its been done. You just dont see many guys using the 4.8 or leaving it at that displacement
@butre.7 жыл бұрын
my 4.8 is making 500 naturally aspirated. 700 shouldn't be too hard with that big ass turbo. maybe not with stock internals, I'm not too confident in the strength of the original pistons. I know from experience the head gasket would need to be replaced. I don't think anything else would have any trouble. the 4.8 is just a destroked 5.3 so it's happy to rev. hot rod magazine made like 1200 in a stock 4.8 once that survived 60 dyno pulls so I wouldn't be surprised if it does survive 700. don't know what kind of mileage was on that 4.8 though.
@FrozenNutsGarage7 жыл бұрын
care to share your setup on that all motor 4.8? still debating if I should go turbo or not...
@woodgrain187 жыл бұрын
700hp is easy with a 4.8 my best friend has a stock bottom end 4.8 with the stock rings gapped a ljms cam,stock truck intake and rails and some cheap 80 pound injectors, mildly ported and decked 799 heads and a really nice turbo kit with air to water intercooler and runs on c16 he is still in the testing phase so he has the on3 78mm turbo (he has a precision 78mm that's going on eventually) and a 50 or 75 shot on it and it's made 740 somthin thru a powerglide without the spray and revs it to 7200rpm the motor is in a 2600- 2700 pound chevy vega wagon on 30×14 slicks I think his best so far in the 1/8 is 5.40 something boost only and it sounds evil!!I'm pretty sure he has more money in his transmission and converter than the what it cost to put the motor and and hot and cold side together lol and I kno he has some dough in that pte turbo. but Damn his motor screams, he is the reason I'm in the process of goin turbo. Don't sleep on 4.8's I'm sure when it's all said and done his car wil run 4.90's. plus mustang faries can't complain about you having a bigger motor when you beat there ass with a 4.8

MrGuvEuroman No need to explain, your comment said enough. Unless you consider piston rings to be "seals" then turbos definitely don't have them. This isn't a turbo from the '80s made for draw through carb.

up to 2:44 minutes in motor sounded real smooth couple cold air backfires later and engine sounded bad. I remember if deaccellerating while under deaccellerating load with short exhaust pipe were known for burning valves wonder if this also could cause a dora detonation when throttle closed fuel cut back because tps is closed and now full lean loaded with cold air getting in motor through exhaust pipe cause a back fire just like under accellerating load and lean? sorry that was long :( no more deaccellerating on dyno with short exhaust maybe?
