I had such great hopes for this as I used it for a couple of weeks. It made great shots! But . . . then it appears that the internal pressure spring failed to the point of not letting the water through, even with a coarse grind. When I tried it again, the overpressure valve "exploded" and scarred the crap out of me such that I will not use it again. Such a disappointment. I have emailed William and Tom several times and even sent a video showing what was happening. Have not received any communication from over 2 months!

Hi Michael, Great to hear you got some good shots but as we’ve mentioned elsewhere, we’re sorry the springfailed. Hopefully we have this sorted now - if not please do email hello@9barista.com and we can help. I’m sorry your emails slipped though the gaps - it looks we accidentally muted your thread on our new support tools. Won’t happen again. Thanks again for your support. The 9Barista team.

@@9Barista What was the issue that caused the failure?
@9Barista4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelkronenberg6675 Hi again. The spring was undamaged. We performed the following actions on your machine: - Disassembled machine - Re-nucleation to valve body - Cleared heat exchanger coil - Parts ultrasonic cleaned - Reassembled machine and pressure tested The repair report marks the cause as "Restricted flow through heat exchanger coil". We also updated your safety valve to the latest version. All free of charge. I'm not sure if you have received your machine back yet - but once you do, please let us know how you get on.

Where did all that water come from as you poured out the espresso? Is that normal?
@systemofapown4 жыл бұрын
It's either caused by adding too much water or more likely the issue with early 9Barista models lacking nucleation sites (small crevices where bubbles can form), which has apparently been corrected for future production runs. The inner surface was essentially too smooth, meaning that bubbles that would have been trapped during the boiling process rose to the top and burst, sending water spitting from the chimney. I believe this has largely been fixed by sanding the upper boiler and heat exchanger coil.

This occasional spitting can be resolved by slightly under filling the machine or by sanding on of the surfaces. New machines have this sanding pre applied. More info on the science behind that here 9barista.com/2020/05/19/calming-the-waters-nucleate-boiling/
