My EDC is .357sig in a g31. But i shoot a lot of 9mm at the range out of my g17. I like to practice with the same size gun, with the same trigger and sights as my main carry tool, just cheaper with the 9mm at the range. @@Wifimoneyss Close. They both are barrier blind which is why they are a good choice. The 68gr bore to length ratio makes it unstable which is why tends to veer off. 90gr is the sweet spot between velocity, stability and momentum.

It's so hard to choose between good hollow points and fluted copper, especially when these rounds are truly barrier blind and perform 100% of the time.
@jackf36196 күн бұрын
I’m carrying these rounds all the way. If a hollow point hits any metal barrier it completely turns into an FMJ bullet and WAY overpentrates 30+ inches. They are not safe at all for that reason. These pack the same punch as a hollow point but are barrier blind and won’t overpenetrate like the hollow points do after hitting metal barriers. They are also better at going through body armor.

You would want to go with the Extreme Penetrator and not the Extreme Defender round.

Most likely, I’m in NM and we only get black Bears as-well. They usally are scared of us, I’d be more afraid of mountain lions though TBH. But you probably wouldn’t even see it coming, but 68gr +p 9mm is perfect for lions they rarely get to 150lbs+ In our parts. But for black bears I’d go with the 90gr. Velocity for muscle, grains for fat. I’d avoid the penetrator rounds, because all they are going to do is poke skinny holes.

.40 S&W is pretty close to the perfect caliber. No, not 10mm. 😂 It's .41 mag. I really like all the 40s.
@lynch6642Ай бұрын
They have spent millions on the 9mm specialty ammo trying to perform just as good as the 40. And the 45 for that matter, I've been around and seen a lot of stuff and the 9mm when it came out was so underperforming, you would hear about criminals taking 5 and 10 rounds and keep coming.. and you still see videos on cops mag dumping criminals.. the 40 was designed exactly what it did, hold more rounds and more power than the 45 and more knockdown than the 9mm... I can even remember in the early 2000s, some gun ranges wouldn't even allow you to shoot 9mm or under because of the lack of power... I'll tell you they just brought it back for cost savings...
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICSАй бұрын
And then the 357 Sig enters the room and puts both the 9 and the 40 to shame.
@dylanunderparАй бұрын
@ yes, but I can shoot 3 40’s or 6 9’s for the cost of one or two 357’s, lol. Honestly I believe we will have a resurgence of the 40/357 sig & further growth of the 10mm..9mm palooza has to come to an end sometime

@AzAirgunner. I would love to see what that 41 would do to that gel block if loaded with something light like a 150 grain bullet
@rangetime6779Ай бұрын
I believe tumbling is achieving the gel damage and not the flutes. The sectional density is low and their susceptible to tumbling which has a nondeterministic travel path. Thanks for the testing. Those velocities re crazy.

Two - "Enough overpenetration to kill loved ones, neighbours and innocent bystanders!"- rounds! Hard pass for me! Thx a lot for the testing!
@TERMINAL-BALLISTICSАй бұрын
The kinetic transfer occurs within the first 11 inches of gelatin - hence why all of the cavitational damage is confined to the first block. By the time the rounds make it into the remaining 10 inches of gel, they've dissipated too much kinetic energy to kill anything else. Not to mention, this is bare gelatin with a T-shirt in front of it. No bones, organs muscle, ect.
