Let's be fair, their reanimation is far, far from perfect. It's shoddy and spread thin as it is, given the sheer scale of the armies, and it's not like Necrons can just permanently and totally recover from things instantly. Their reanimation is keeping them going just enough to keep moving around and killing, it's not gonna repair inessential damage that barely affects anything when they can't even reliably pull themselves back together.

If you're NEW to Necrons this IS an awesome time for you. You can split MORE boxes than you can probably handle and you'll likely have a hellacious "stating base" to work with. For existing Necron players, that don't do Space Marines, the box has a lot less value seeing that we already have most of the basic models in the box.

As a business degree student, I think the approach is pretty clever. 1st wave, high priced box for veterans that are desperate to spend their money on new kits. 2nd wave - similar to 8th, different entry point boxes for new players, later in the year ready for Christmas. Chuck in a few new units to that wave of boxes and veterans buy both.

I love the banner bearer. Mostly because his robes are just like on that one Blood Angels banner. Which of course makes him a perfect fit with Blood Angels. Winged skeleton adds to it as well. So it is perfect for BA army. But I can see how it is a bit weird for other forces.

The massive gun on the Lokhust is actually the normal Gauss Cannon unless its somthing new. The article has a single barrel cannon arm, assuming the old Heavy Gauss Cannon, which would mean the multi barreled one would be the regular Gauss Cannon for the Lokhust Destroyers. Also I believe that 9th will be the Classic Marines "swan song" edition. GW will produce models for the things Primaris dont already cover, like Bikes and Assault Troops. Then at the end of 9th going into Xth they will do another Psychic Awakening/Gathering Storm where somthing happens to wipe the rest of the old guard Marines away and nothing but Primaris are left. The 9th edition Marine Codex will be the last rules changes and after FAQs for 9th they will do one last points adjustment and shove the entire classic line into the Legends category.

I don't think we'll see a new starter set. The increased model point costs and emphasis on games of all scales, but effectively smaller to effect quicker games, would point new players to a "Start Collecting" with a box or two of additional models. You'd would be at that 500 point Combat Patrol level at that point. Even the Narrative nature of building your army and bringing it into games where the army gains experience and slowly grows. That emphasizes steady purchases. GW is going for the long game here and all the changes reflect an outcome that see the player base expand quickly moving forward.

Maybe they plan to break up the box like they did with the previous starters. So a smaller version with the intercessors and HQ, with the warriors and necron HQ... maybe an easy to build format, and that could be the ‘Starter Set’.

Very happy with what I have seen. As a necron player this will supplement my existing army nicely and as a BA player I have a lot of new close combat toys to play with. As a boxed set £120 feels right when you take into account the savings made. I hope they do make a starter set for new players but also the smaller boxes that include things like paint and scenery. It is a great way to entice in new players and the necrons have a new paint scheme

I'm in between starter and existing. I've started a small Necron army but I haven't played any games yet. I am seriously thinking about getting this one. And I've currently got Lychguard and Immortals to finish

Think on this Kirioth. Your average character model in 40K costs between £15-25 per character. So the characters alone in this boxed set cover the ticket price and that's ignoring that the rule book will be about £30. I'd say (based on GW pricing) that £120 is a steal for this set if you have Necrons and Marines.

If more of these models were available separately, I'd be way more tempted to buy more heroes/characters. They're my favorite models to paint and tbh it's bumming me out that I won't be able to get the executioner chaplain separately. Or a captain with a skeleton shield. Or a War of the Worlds spindly boy.

Ground clearance isn't a problem for those bikes because they don't go over rocks and rough terrain. They go *through* it.

All this new stuff has made me real happy! I’m buying all of them! I’ve just come back to 40k after a break, and this new stuff is just what I’ve been waiting for. Btw, the bikes would be perfectly functional in the real world, the Space Marines would just drive through terrain and crush it to sand.
