Did you know my video's now have SUPER THANKS? Each of my video's takes on average THREE days to script, film and edit using professional equipment; if they are a blessing to you and you'd like to help keep them coming you can! At the bottom of each video you'll see SUPER THANKS and you can make a donation to help me make more videos! Every donation is DEEPLY appreciated and goes towards production and time costs.
Today I'm sharing our 9th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Review ADHD. These are the choices we used for our ADHD teen this year-mostly I shared what worked and one thing that really didn't work that well. Do you homeschool a child with ADHD? I'd love to hear from you and what works for you! Share in the comments!

I know God sent me to your channel. My daughter (8th grade) has ADHD, and she has been homeschooling since she was in the 4th grade. It was going very well until last year in 7th grade. The curriculum we use is all done with online video streaming, and each video lesson is 45 minutes long, but the prep work beyond that for each subject is 1 to sometimes 3 hours long. She is bored stiff, miserable, and it is so good to hear that statistic that people who have ADHD has a 70% chance of having some sort of learning disability! I had my daughter tested for LD’s when she was in the third grade by a neurophysiologist who determined she does not have any, but I am sure that she does. I have determined that she is not college bound, which is more than Ok, so I am guiding her into something that requires vocational training as well as possibly being done with homeschooling when she is 16, per our state requirement. It is so hard.

I agree, it is hard! I think it would be easier if there were more support and awareness around ADHD, there need to be more options available to people that have it! In the meantime though all we can do is support our kids, pray for and with them and believe in them, right? My son has other challenges as well too. This year we've decided to really start trying to focus on helping him create a lucrative career that uses his natural talents. Praying for you and your daughter! I am sure she is amazing and will do great things, especially with a mom like you advocating for her!!

I have several neurodivergent children. One of my best resources has been utilizing my special needs advocate. He’s been amazing. He’s also an autistic adult so he has really taught me so much.

Wow... That's him PLAYING (and self taught)? That's FABULOUS. And the digital art too? He sounds very gifted/creative. He's doing just GREAT !

I love how you included his accomplishments in digital art and his guitar playing capabilities without sounding like a super braggy mom who worships her kids. lol You are so balanced in explaining his challenges but also contentedly and encouragingly showcasing what he CAN do and what he excels in. He is so talented! And it's helpful so see someone explain learning challenges and have such a calm, positive mindset, that it's ok- they don't have to "perform" to certain standards in other academics. I mean- learning anything- whether Calculus or digital art and guitar IS academia!

Sounds like your son had a very good year of learning! I want to encourage you that you're doing a great job!! In our state, we can count finishing a course, OR fulfilling a certain number of hours as means to earn credits. Maybe your son has possibly earned his credit already if he's spent enough time working on it? We've really liked using The Good and the Beautiful Language Arts as it includes everything you need to cover for English, but in a very easy to manage and get done manner. Lots of variety, and even includes geography and art for those artsy kids, too! Also, we've used ACE Biology for high school biology as it's in small booklets which are not overwhelming, include lots of color, written in a conversational tone, and have links to lab videos included. We also do a more living book, Charlotte Mason method for history using Heart of Dakota. We used the same health curriculum this year for our daughter and LOVED It! :) I'm a new subscriber...Love your videos! Looking forward to more homeschool content, and wishing you a great new year! ;)

I love seeing this video as I we have two boys with ADHD as well (8th & 4th). I was wondering if you might make another one of these videos for your son’s 10th grade year. I would love to see someone’s HS homeschool years curriculum with a child with ADHD. Thank you again for your awesome content.

Thank you so much. My son also has ADHD. I"ve been trying to find good curriculum for him. He had been using WW is school until 7th, when we pulled him. There is an online WW tool we use with the workbook. I like it because it tells him right away if it's wrong and he can correct.

ADHD MOMMA here with 2 ADHD children and my oldest will be in 9th this year right now with her grades right now. She is in an IEP but her teacher's don't have the capacity to help guide children with ADHD other then to throw medication on it and I'm tired of it. I know meds help but do we not give coping tools as well to help them through life. Thank you for sharing this content

I'm so sorry to hear it's that way! 😥 We have been able to avoid meds so far and I know the counseling is a huge reason why. The coping skills make such a difference. Praying things become easier for your family soon!!!

This is very encouraging. My 12 yr old son is in 6/7 grade and has ADHD. His bigger challenges are with social skills, impulsivity, and retention. I'm so happy to see that your son is succeeding! BTW, we also use and love Teaching Textbooks, Easy Grammar, Notgrass history, and Apologia science. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Hi, Im working on getting an adhd diagnosis, and I am needing to repeat my grade 9 year because of it. my family and I are thinking of doing homeschool for the rest of high school and I can’t seem to find an answer to my question on google, so do you know if teaching textbooks are in Canada as well, Or if there are any similar alternatives for Canadians? Thanks!

Miss 7 has ADHD and ASD plus medical conditions. 🇦🇺🦘started homeschool in term 2 with TGATB LA K and Math 1. I love that TGATB uses manipulatives. I modify the curriculum further. Eg. Putting number sticks onto magnets on the fridge. To maintain the novelty factor I mix it up with beads on pipecleaner, counting shells, marshmallow auction… you get the idea. Mixed it up with a Harbor and Sprouts lesson this week. She has gone from focussing 10 minutes to nearly 2 hours. Book work used to be pretty much impossible. We use letter tiles, and I’d write multiple options onto stickers. Well, now she grabs the stickers and writes them out herself 🤣. In Australia she was baby (end Dec) of class 2 cohort. I was a bit uncomfortable using K and 1 TGATB workbooks but just realised our 2 is USA 1. Given she’s baby of that cohort I’m now content with her progress. Have been wondering how high school will look for use. We’re a creative bunch too.
