Pixel is THE device to get if you are moving from iPhone to Android. The Face recognition alone is enough reason as it keeps something that Apple has. I can access my banking info, pay for my groceries, access my phone by just holding it to my face. This eases people into the Android space.

Almost every android has facial recognition though. It's not the same as face id, but the pixels face unlock also need the most ambient light to work. All of their competition works better in more lighting conditions. I'm a pixel fan but I'm also not disillusioned to the point where I can't say other android brands offer more for the same money or less than a pixel

With Google moving to TSMC, Tensor5 will have a huge boost in power to close align with the A19 and Snapdragon8 G4. We know already that Google wanted to complete the move this year but they couldn't due to TSMCs production capacity limitations. To be honest a vast majority of consumers don't give two shits about refresh rate. Only tech nerds care about specs. Most people don't even know what 120Hz or 60Hz is. They just want the phone to work with ease and take good pictures. And from experience iOS at 60Hz is as smooth as Android on 90-120Hz with how they do their animations and stuff.

From the first Pixel launch, I knew that Apple is all about keeping you in their ecosystem, while Google is trying to avoid that. I think Google just wants to sell as many devices as possible, but being the most popular handset in the world isn't necessarily good for the maker of Android. While the Tensor is weaker than Apple Silicon, but even older Pixel Pro (like the 6 Pro) have 12GB RAM. AI apps like Gemini work flawlessly on even the 6 Pro. Only reason to upgrade to the newer versions would be for a better camera and 7yr updates

I agree 100% what you said, as I use iPhone and Pixel at the same time through the years, I tend to update my Pixel on a yearly basis but not iPhone due to many new features Google introduces with every new Pixel which don't exist on other phones. I have iPhone 14 Pro Max and no intention to upgrade as I don't fall for Apple marketing and gimmicks. Google Assistant & Google Gemini now are features I would not give up for dumb Siri. Coming from One UI, my thoughts are, Pixel Launcher, the hardware and experience of the Pixel phone is a teaser, it's designed specifically to introduce people using iPhone to the Android experience. It's very similar, it's a very curated journey with some extra bells and whistles, but essentially a major downgrade if you've been using an Android phone on other OEMs for the last 10 years. Fix Gemini. It's rubbish as an assistant.

Fun fact. A Google representative came to our office and dropped off a few Pixel 9's for my department tryna to shift our enterprise apps to using Android instead of iOS. Great build quality. Aging camera. Midranged performance. While being sold more expensive than other better performing phones (Vivo X100, S24 Ultra, One Plus 12, hell even the redmi k70 is 1/3 cheaper and has better SoC. I'll stick to my iPhone 16 Pro Max (preordered) and my Fold 6 (yeah yeah, Honor Magic V3 is better and cheaper)

The apple isn't gonna lose any sleep over it trust me. The pixel phone been trash for awhile now and they finally released something decent. They are just going to keep that design for the next 6 years like apple and Samsung does, furthermore, apple has always done it, they've always kept same models for few years and then did the big redesign. One example would IPhone 6 which didn't change design for almost 4 years and is still the best selling smartphone of all time.

Pixel 9 series is astonishing, really. Only downside is, the region lock of 5G connection that Google is implementing. Many of us in unsupported countries that are willing to go through the hassle and buy this phone from overseas, but we are limited to 4G speeds as a consequence. Please stop!

Blackberry didn't have a developer community around its operating system and decided to stick to an outdated form factor. That's why it failed. Android does not have that problem, and it achieved that community by being open source from the start.

Just switched from iPhone 11 to Pixel 7 Pro. I will use Android and Google handsets for the foreseeable future! And yes, I think Google flexed, especially with the free Gemini experience added in there.

Apple did iPhone 14, and 15 regular size phone owners wrong. Google isn't likely to win much with the Pixel 9 though. They do promote the whole Android software as a competitor to iOS.

Realistically, why would anyone from 14 and 15 go to the 16? I always feel like the only upgrade that makes sense is if you skip 2 generations, i.e. going from 13 to 16 would seem reasonable. Even 2 years generally doesn't bring enough improvements to justify it.

I love my Pixel 9 pro. Maybe my favorite phone of all time. I used to be a Pixel and iPhone user but now Google has hit a home run in my book and I feel no reason to use my old iPhone and I could care less about the event they just had. Since the Nexus days I have been waiting on Google to make a phone as good as the 9 pro.

The Apple iPhone has been in decline for several years now. One reason for this decline is the rise of Google's Pixel phones. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are equipped with artificial intelligence and have remarkable cameras that can shoot Raw at 4K 60 and 8K 30fps. These two features alone are enough to make the Pixel phones a significant competitor to the iPhone.

I went from iPhone (since the launch iPhone) to a Pixel 8 pro last year. Holy habit really looked back, the Pixel is a GREAT phone. This year I got the Pixel 9 fold. iPhone will forever be in my heart but as of now, pixel is the option for me. Really good.

iPhone has added 2 new buttons in the last 2 years which I'd say is much more impactful on the hardware side than Pixel just changing the form factor. Also, most people care more about practical improvements like that than AI.

I have a pixel 9 which I love (coming from s22+). However, I am yet to use any of the AI features. There's no instance in which the AI stuff makes my day to day tasks and experience better. The phone itself as a phone is phenomenal. The AI is just a marketing distraction.
