*iPhone MIRRORING FAQ* Lots of people have been asking me questions about iPhone Mirroring, so I’ll answer the most frequent below. Read the full post on 9to5Mac for more details: 9to5mac.com/2024/06/25/hands-on-iphone-mirroring-with-ios-18-and-macos-sequoia-video/ *Can I use my iPhone while using iPhone Mirroring?* No, your iPhone must be locked to use iPhone Mirroring. If you unlock your phone, the mirroring session on macOS will be interrupted. *Can I install or uninstall apps on iPhone while using iPhone Mirroring?* Yes, you can install apps from the App Store and delete them by visiting Settings → General → iPhone Storage. However, you cannot delete apps directly from the Home Screen because edit (wiggle) mode is disabled. *Does iPhone Mirroring work with landscape mode?* Yes, however, it depends on the app. If you’re watching KZbin, and put the video into full screen, the mirroring window will automatically switch to landscape mode via a brief animation. There is no way to force a window into landscape mode at this time. *Can I rearrange my Home Screen while using iPhone Mirroring?* You can’t enter edit (wiggle) mode, so no. You can adjust the size of app icons by long-pressing on an app icon, though. *Can you play games and Apple Arcade via iPhone Mirroring?* Yes, you can even play with a Bluetooth controller as long as it’s paired with your iPhone. *Can you resize the iPhone Mirroring window?* No, it’s a static Window, and its dimensions cannot be changed to be smaller or larger. *Can you use your Mac while using iPhone Mirroring?* Yes, the iPhone Mirroring window is just another window running on macOS. You can continue to use your Mac like normal. *Can you use the iPhone’s camera or microphone when using iPhone Mirroring?* No, these are disabled, most likely for security reasons. *Can I use Apple Fitness+ via iPhone Mirroring?* I don’t think so, I just got a black screen as if the classes are DRM-protected. I could still hear the audio, though. *Does iPhone Mirroring work with iPad or iPadOS?* No. *How close does your iPhone need to be to use iPhone Mirroring?* That largely depends on your environment layout, but in my experience, they needed to be fairly close. It worked fine when my iPhone was in the next room over, but when I moved it two rooms away, the connection and audio were very laggy. If you’re too far away before establishing a connection, iPhone Mirroring simply won’t connect. If it’s in the same room at a relatively close distance, it should work without issue. *Can I interact with the iPhone’s Dynamic Island while using iPhone Mirroring?* Yes, just long-press the Dynamic Island area on the virtual display. *Can I access my iPhone Lock Screen, Control Center, Notification Center, or Siri via iPhone Mirroring?* Nope!

The resolution on a 4K display is unfortunately too small. Hopefully we get resize options or at least increase the scale.

@@SandeepKumar-q4l1y helpful suggestion, but practically useless. 3 predetermined sizes are not as helpful as allowing me to resize and forcing a particular aspect ratio. The largest size is decent on 4K, but seems like a weird limitation to just those 3 sizes.

@@highlanderc you could do this in mac as well for a very long time. with 3rd party apps. i don't think that's the point though. apple does a really good job of incorporating it into the OS and making it seamless. there are always going to be problems when using 3rd party apps.

This is a very long time coming, didn't realise it wasn't already a thing. It's built in on some other brands along with far more features and abilities. Ecosystem is such a cringe term when you can do more already and for years now across multiple brands of software and hardware

@@Spoonfed78 Lol idk what else to call it but when we’re talking about one companies hardware/software integrations I think ecosystem is the accepted term.. especially phones, Google has one, Samsung, Apple, even smaller guys like Nothing. Edit: as others mentioned me downloading a 3rd party app on my phone and the accompanying app from GitHub =\= Ecosystem

for me mine isnt really working at all because i get past the first continue part where it explains it, and then it goes to be on the same wifi, have iphone near mac turned on, as well as bluetooth on and signed in with like the same things but then it wont let me continue no matter how many times i press continue it like wont work its kinda like stuck there

Would mirroring an IPhone on to my Mac Mini give me full control of an IPhone. I am disabled and have an adapted keyboard and mouse (joystick) and I am looking for a way of controlling an Iphone (or any phone) from the same keyboard/mouse. I also have a Windows 11 PC if that provides more options? Any advice would be appreciated. Mike

Hi! This seems great! I use my iPhone as continuity camera for my Mac mini. You mentioned that camera and microphone are disabled with mirroring, so will I have to choose either mirroring or continuity camera? It is the top situation in which I want to grab the phone to do something but I realize it is right there up the monitor…

I have the same concern. I was so excited about this because I always use my phone iPhone as my webcam for work meetings, but sometimes I need to check my phone while on video. Was hoping this was the solution, but it sounds like unfortunately not.

After resotring my iPhone, I can no longer use iPhone mirroring normally. There is no pop-up asking me to trust my Mac, but it keeps asking me to unlock my iPhone. Is there a way to reset the iPhone mirroring application on my Mac?

Love the mirroring feature with the exception that you can't use remote on iPhone to control AppleTV. Every time you try to use it in iPhone mirroring, mirroring ends and you get the notification that the iPhone is in use. Is this on purpose by Apple?

Is there no a way to make mirroring with cable and QuickTime again ? It is a better way to record videos this way than this app. iPadOS 18 still works with QuickTime but iPhone 😭

I faced the same issue , just go to iPhone Mirroring settings on your Mac and set it "Ask every time" for "Require Mac Login to access iPhone" and you should be good.

I can’t get past the Unlock iPhone screen. It shows me the step to unlock iPhone and the “enter passcode to trust this Mac” but after I enter my passcode, my Mac says unable to connect to iPhone.
