Feels so great because I chat with my sister DAILY and she has a Samsung. It’s so annoying when I get the notification that she liked a message and now we can send each other messages seamlessly. I use to love my android but moved over to iPhone for the simplicity. I love how they’ve added customizations that are not too over the top but make a big difference. I’m loving iOS 18 on my iPhone 15. Battery life is great and honestly no more overheating!

Indeed, that is a basic feature of RCS, being able to enter and leave a group chat whenever without breaking the chat. It's bult into the spec itself so it should work on iPhones too once they have it.

Regardless of whatever phone we have , we should be able to do the basic features of what a mobile device should do. Imagine sending a photo between android and Apple and the photo is so blurry. Does that mean I should go switch over to Apple so I can be able to receive very clear cut HD photos obviously not. Or say an Apple device and android device are on a phone call and one starts cutting/ stuttering every single time because two different phone companies are tryna compete (this is hypothetical case btw). There are basic features that should be universal across all devices. You don’t go around seeing a car without a steering wheel, doesn’t matter however it is designed or built, as long as there is a steering wheel regardless of the makers of the vehicle. Competition begins when you’ve got variety of features implemented into the device whilst the basic features are still retained. MagSafe is available on iPhone but not android, that’s not a basic feature any user needs now but more of a convenience, a consumer might decide I want MagSafe charging and ends up going for an iPhone just cause of that singular reason.

using iPhone 11 with iOS 18 beta 2 and getting extraordinary battery life, super smooth, no issues at all. getting around 8-9 hours screen on time on an avg. Max I got 10 hrs yesterday and I m using it from 100 to 10% battery daily. Charge it when it reaches 10%. on iOS 17 , i ws getting 4-5 hours. dont know what has happened. but I am loving it. Also one more thing, Battery health is 79% and I bought it on Dec 2019.

RCS is a protocol like iMessage, except the rest of the world uses it other than iPhones until now. SMS has been outdated for more than a decade but necessary to message iPhone users from other devices.

The only problem with RCS at least the one that you being used by carriers to communicate with Apple and android devices is not secure like iMessages and actually provides a false sense of security. One of the big pushers for RCS is the carriers because it is a hope that they can track and Collect more data from its users iMessage protocol, actually prevent carriers from seeing more data from their users. This is why Apple will continue to use the green and blue bubbles because the blue bubbles will indicate that it is an actual encrypted message that can stand behind the green one is one that they cannot

Although it is not E2EE like iMessage or RCS Messages sent between two Android phones it is encrypted in transit. Of course this is not as good as E2EE, but it's a heck of a lot better than sending everything in plain text like SMS. Hopefully in time Apple can work with the GSMA to add E2EE to the universal profile.

I'm so glad this is finally happening. My partner and so many friends have iPhone. Doing group chats with them between my Samsung phone using Google messages is so bad. Reactions do come through but when an iPhone user reacts it says they reacted to a photo,message or video, it doesn't tag it to the item like it does with other Android devices. Also it's hard to send videos and high quality pics. Having some functionality of RCS on the iPhone will make cross-platform messaging better. It's time Apple did this to make the experience better for their users and everyone.

I've seem RCS work with others using Motorola phones on tracphone and cricket perfectly OK with my Samsung galaxy phones and my old oneplus 7pro on both t-mobile and visible. I know both timed all users were using the Google messages app. That could be because they all use the same RCS profile. I will be testing it out when it's fully released.

This just showed up on my iPhone 16 pro and now I can’t respond to group texts at all. And it appears that Verizon in my area doesn’t support it. Turning it off seems to cause other issues. Not happy here.

I tested this with my wife's iPhone. On my Samsung S23, I can reply to specific messages and it works on my end. But on her phone she doesn't see it and she can't reply to specific messages on her phone to me.

@@mazyar79 huh, interesting. When you say she doesn't see it, do you mean she saw the message but not that it was a direct reply, or that she didn't see the message at all? (I'm guessing the first but I just want to make sure)

@@xarfram She sees the message but can't see that I replied directly to one of her previous messages. It just went through like a regular RCS text. But on my end, I swiped on a specific message I wanted to directly reply to on my Android and there were no issues on my side.

@@mazyar79 Yeah I think in the RCS version that Apple is using, reply support has to be implemented by the client, but as of the newest version of RCS, replies are natively supported in the spec (no need for manual implementaion, they just work), so hopefully by the time iOS 18 fully releases to the public that's the version they're using too so that replies work outside of the box.
